This band's "I am the moon" album is all Nezami Ganjavi's poetry. The lead was on radio and is very knowledgable about Nezami's work, especially Leili va majnoon.

Thank you Faramarz HAMVATAN and rahgozar. Thanks for sharing the info and history. Very interesting. You do not have to be pro or against shah to enjoy reading these interesting stories. The women in Imperial Airforce I did not know about. Wow!! Also has no idea about F-16s. I know we ordered some AWAKS but never delivered and instead sold to Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Women in the IIAF

Before the Arabs invading Iran in the name of Islam and change Iranian Zoroastrian religion, Women played a major role in society.

Iran had Queens such as Pourandoukht and Azarmidoukht. one of the Commanders of Persian Navy was Artemis Iranian Women also were in charge in various levels of Armed Forces.

[f16s]Drawing of IIAF F-16A over Yazd

IIAF purchases 160 F-16A on October 27th 1976 with follow up order of additional 140, A total of 300 aircraft. Parts and maintenance equipment has arrived in Iran as early as 1978 and ground personnel had been given training, (Ground support equipment was later sold to Pakistan). However, new Government cancelled the order in 1979 before the schedule arrival of the first two F-16, later this cancellation effected the unit cost of each aircraft to a much higher price tag. But General Dynamics found a new buyer for Iranian
F-16’s, which was Israel’s air force.

HAMVATAN aziz, I got this from a son of a militay (a friend); He was basically saying that just REX of Abadan, Just like death of Mostafa Khomeni or Shariati, opposition of then always blamed the Shah. And we know in all 3 they were proven to be incoreect. He did say Gharabaghi sold his soul.

here is what his dad said:

Hamvatan, great memories. Thank you for sharing with us. One question though, I was surprised to read that you think Shah got rid of those people. Were they not among the most loyal Shah followers? I do not know myself but have heard this from many others. They believe that Savak assassinated them through instructions from CIA. Otherwise they were going to stage a coup and bring Shah back.

There are lots of rumors about this. Can't wait for the 50 year anniversary when CIA records r released. I hope Stephen Kinzley writes another book based on those records.
