Comments: (CNN) At least 69 people have been killed in flooding and landslides that hit cities across Iran, Iran's Crisis Management Organization said on Sunday. Nezhad Jahani, a senior official at the organization, said at least 45 people are still missing in Tehran and three other provinces following the recent floods, which damaged at least 20,000 residential homes. More than 20 provinces, including the Tehran province, have been affected by the floods that were caused by heavy rainfall, semi-official Fars news agency said. Several airports and main highways were closed and thousands of people evacuated.
Comments: Thanks HAMVATAN. The link to ranking was exactly what I was looking for. Especially now that I know the english / Persian cross terms.
Comments: TEHRAN, The Iran national football team is eager to play a friendly match with Senegal in September. The ‘Persian Leopards’ are scheduled to meet Uruguay in Vienna, Austria on Sept. 23. La Celeste is in Group H of the 2022 FIFA World Cup along with Portugal, Guinea, and South Korea. Now, the local media reports suggest that Dragan Skocic’s team may play a friendly match with Senegal four days later in Austria as well. The Lions of Teranga are in Group A along with Qatar, Ecuador, and the Netherlands. Iran will participate in the World Cup for the sixth time in the country’s history and on a third consecutive occasion. The Persians will kick off their campaign against star-studded England on Nov. 21 before taking on Wales and the U.S. in Group B.
Comments: On the commemoration day of Sheikh Shahabuddin Sohravardi, the 2nd Ferdowsi of Iran and the founder of the Iranian school of Illuminations. Sohravardi; Death in prison, the price of recognition of the wisdom of the ancient Persia هان! تا سر رشته خود گم نکنی This is not a philosophical note, but only a memory of Sheikh Shahabuddin Sohravardi, who died of hunger or was killed in Aleppo prison at the age of 38 (on July 30, 1191), although "starving in prison" is not less than murder because The jailer is responsible for the prisoner's life and taking care of his life and health, and that is why Sheikh Eshraq is also called Sheikh Martyr. Sohravardi, what was he looking for and what did he die for? He, who was born in Sohravardi, Zanjan and studied in Maragheh and Isfahan, found the environment of Sham more favorable and moved there, and it was like that for a while, and because of this, he was able to complete the wisdom of enlightenment, but the ending of the story of Sham/Aleppo was not happy for him. If Ferdowsi sought that the two gems of language and history would not be lost due to the change in the cultural and political atmosphere of Iran after the arrival of the Arabs or Islam, and he polished both in the best possible way in the Shahnameh, so that even after a thousand years, bright and Derakhshan is before our eyes, Sohravardi was also looking for the gem of wisdom in ancient Iran, or Khosravani's wisdom, and went to light itself. Until Sohravardi, Iranians did not have a philosophical system based on specific Iranian beliefs, and what was presented in the third and fourth centuries as "Philosophy of Masha" «فلسفۀ مشاء» was actually based on Aristotle, although great men such as Ibn Sina and Farabi perfected it and intended They also promoted thought in Iran, but its essence was Greek; Only based on reason. But Sohravardi added "intuition" to "intellect" and was inspired by the same "light" that Zoroaster's teachings are based on, and instead of the duality of Ahura-Ahriman, which arouses sensitivity, he based his wisdom on the duality of light/darkness. At the beginning, he was tolerated because he referred to the verses of the Qur'an in the context of "light", but the scholars of Aleppo could not tolerate Khosrowani's promotion of wisdom even by citing the verses of the Qur'an, and at the age of 38, he threw that unique talent into prison, and he died in prison. He openly spoke of Kiyomarth, Ki Khosro, and Fereydun, and when she mentioned that he was supposed to revive the mood and the religion of the sages of ancient Iran, he was nicknamed Ferdowsi II.
Comments: Faramarz and Keefer, F-14 is still formidable and the reason it was not exported as much and retired rather early, was that it was very expensive and the stealth class fighters came along. It was multi-purpose with a lot of capabilitie that even today are not matched by any single fighter. Most fighters are at most single or dual purpose. F-14 could be used as ground support (it could slow enough with wings open to fly at low attitude and destroy ground forces with cannon and missiles), aerial combat superiority for air-defense, reconnaissance capabilities to cover and track large areas (radar system and Phoenix missile control can track 6 targets simultaneously, lock and fire on all - Because of this capability in Iraq war they would send a F-14 with F-4s and F-5s as recon to warn them about enemy planes in the area and engaging them in case of battle), attack aircraft, short take-off made them desirable for small airfields and carrier landing. With some electronic upgrades, it is still the jewel of Iranian Airforce. @Rahgozar- Homafars are the ones doing these upgrades and design work.
Comments: Thoroughly agree. There's a folklor saying, that you might have heard of: چاهی مکن بهر کسی، اول خودت دوم کسی This applies to the US policies towards Iran. Thanks for taking the time.
Comments: Keefer jAn, history is always written by the winners and the American end is coming much faster than I thought, mostly becuase internal forces are accelerating it. The rpublican party, to stay in power, is entirely lined up behind Trump. and he in turm, is too dim to recognize the broader implications of what he stands for. Bringing Russia and Saudi Arabia together in the dawn of new Russia-China relationships is very bad news for the United States and countries like Iran will benefit from it. But the bigger story is the redrawing of the global power map. United States after being the sole superpower remaining, when everything seemed to go their way, they fumble it, instead of peace look for war, and get themselves into and existential cold war, this time with over half of the world economy! This is not going to end well for the world and IMO it will either end in significant deterioration of United State's economic power (which is the only real power this country has), or worse, if the US does not accept this outcome, the WWIII.
Comments: Rahgozar, thanks for catching the omission of Sepahbod (before Arteshbod). This link has the rankings in general https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rank_insignia_of_the_Iranian_military#Iranian_Air_Force It is missing Sotvanyar ranks and Homafar class All other ranks get promoted to next level except Homafars who were basically Engineers trained in specialties and were never in managerial roles. Usually worked in groups managed by Sotvanyars, sotvan or sarvans. Van stands for a team/crew. Then you have gordan, hang, tip, lashkar, sepah, artesh. I guess “bod” mean the top general and “sar” is the head of a group.
Comments: Yes, Keefer jAn, that was not me. About the band, they were on the radio and the lead singer was talking about the album and suddenly started talking about leili, majnoon, and Nezami!!!!!!!!! That was very surprising to me as well!!

Comments: Fascinating revelation about the motive of the man who assassinated the Jap PM a while ago. He wanted to expose the ties between his party and the Unification Church(the Moonies) because they ruined his mother's life. https://www.thedailybeast.com/shinzo-abes-assassin-tetsuya-yamagami-succeeds-in-plot-to-expose-japans-deep-ties-with-unification-church NARA, Japan—The shooting of ex-Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has had unexpected political blowback. The killer attacked Abe not for his political beliefs, but because he wanted to take revenge upon the South Korea-based Unification Church—sometimes labeled a ‘cult’—which he blamed for ruining his family and his life. Before shooting Abe, he wrote a letter to a freelance journalist—obtained by The Daily Beast—explaining that he murdered Abe in order to expose the deep links between Japan’s ruling party, the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), and the Unification Church. While the Japanese media at first refused to print the name of the cult, they are now going all out—detailing the links between the religious group, Abe, and his party in lurid detail. The backlash is so strong that many are now openly calling for the cancellation of the State Funeral for Abe that is planned this Autumn The Unification Church under various names and guises has not only cultivated strong ties with Japanese politicians, especially the Liberal Democratic Party, but has also managed to forge tight connections to the Republican Party in the U.S., links intensified under President Donald Trump. One of the sons of Reverend Moon, Hyung Jin “Sean” Moon, created a splinter group, Rod of Iron Ministries, that worships with AR-15s and virulently supports Trump. Sean Moon and congregation members were not only allegedly present at the Jan. 6 insurrection but are seemingly connected to some MAGA megastars. Steve Bannon called into the group’s Freedom Festival last October. |
