The Dollar has been strong mainly against the Euro. And that's by design.

The process started by the U.K. decision for Brexit that the U.S. supported. Then came opposition to the Nordstream pipeline and it ended with the manufactured Ukraine crisis.

The idea was/is to kill the EU and Euro and it's working. Euro is now at almost parity with the dollar. It used to be at a 1.5 ration not too long ago.

In contrast, One dollar was getting 139 rubles back in march it only gets you 61 rubles today.

The main question is why are the UK and the USA bent on destroying EU?

Just to add to the comments! I wasn’t mad or pissed or had much emotions about the article or the whole $$$ value. I was and still am confused. I really don’t get it. How does any currency gets its value. I get that it is a value compared to others. It doesn’t just go up and down by itself.

Either way, I’m learning and that is the best I can do in my old age…

We have so many observers here. [rofl] One posts maddAhi, and the other gets pissed for anything negative said against the US or even its currency. [rofl] Total opposites. I am sure there are some middle of the road observers as well. Can u guys pick a pre or post-fix of some sort? Like Yazdi-Observer and American-Observer, etc.

Zinsky jAn, your surprise is one that many share about the dollar. The truth is that Dollar and Rial are very similar in how their values are maintained. It is not by economic principals but by political interference. These two currencies, and a few others, get valued very differently from most other currencies.

Observer, I have seen the MaddAhi from Yazd. Every year they do this and the lyrics are always fearless and to the point. They are always very good.

This is a great book and as far as I know, it is the only book that has been written about the HAkhAmanesh society rather than its accomplishments. The sole purpose of the book is to investigate what enables a society to produce a king like Kurosh.

Observer gerami,

no body is offended. I, myself place arguments, from different people,  to give us a view from different angle on the topic. Not offended, at all, by dollar being strong explained by Jason Karaian. It is not “you guys” as you put it, believing what Nadimi says, no one even comments on his videos. Nadimi is not even an economist, he is a political science analyst. It is me who place it here.  I do thank you for bringing NYTimes article to our attention. It educated me for one. We are here to learn from different sources. Aren't we supposed to do that in a healthy environment? Peace!

Zinsky, you are thinking Iran that printing money happens without Checks and Balances.  This country even though printed money; it was to stabilize the economy during Covid and it was done through certain measures.  We knew the prices will go up, we knew somehow we need to balance this.

Here is another article from Economist, which by far is more of a knowledge wealth station than Hamshahri and Tasnim. The choice is yours to have Nadimi as your financial advisor or someone who breathes economy everyday.

Ad then below is from Business - Standard

Strongest dollar in a generation upends global economy, devalues currencies

The greenback is affecting everything from cost of an overseas vacation to profitability of MNCs

The  lubricates the global economy. It is one side of about 90 per cent of all foreign exchange transactions, accounting for $6 trillion in activity every day before the pandemic, from tourists using their credit cards to companies making major  investments.

The main way to gauge the dollar’s strength is by indexing it against a basket of currencies of major trading partners like Japan and the eurozone. By that measure, the dollar is at a 20-year high, after gaining more than 10 per cent this year, a huge move for an index that typically shifts by tiny fractions each day.

In the past week, the yen sank to a 24-year low against the dollar and the euro fell to parity, a one-for-one exchange rate, with the dollar for the first time since 2002. But pick just about any currency — the Colombian peso or the Indian rupee, the Polish zloty or the South African rand — and it has probably lost value against the dollar, especially over the past six months or so.

It’s a very, very strong dollar,” said Mark Sobel, a former Treasury official who now serves as the US chair of the Official Monetary and Financial Institutions Forum, a think tank. The currency has been stronger on only three occasions since the 1960s.

Not sure why we get pissed and defensive when for example dollar becomes strong globally.  This is just a fact and economically makes sense mostly due to raising interest rates. Anyways, I did not just randomly posted an article from some random outskirts.  This is NY Times and those who wrote the article are astute scholars Karaian, Renisson, and karl Russell. Not sure about Nadimi’s background, but I get my economic news from the likes ofJason Karaian, you guys get yours from Nadimi.

Jason Karaian

Jason Karaian is the editor of DealBook, based in London. He joined The Times in 2020 after six years at Quartz, where he was senior Europe correspondent and later global finance and economics editor.

Before that, he spent 10 years at The Economist Group, first at the European edition of CFO magazine writing about the financial aspects of business and then as financial services editor at the Economist Intelligence Unit, covering the business aspects of finance. He also served as industries editor for The World In and wrote about everything from banks to bonds to basketball for The Economist.

He is the author of "The Chief Financial Officer: What CFOs do, the influence they have, and why it matters," published by The Economist/Profile Books in 2014.

He started out as a macroeconomic analyst in Chicago, after graduating with a degree in economics from Northwestern University.

Our friend Observer posted the valuable article from NYTimes. About 3 weeks ago Mohammad Nadimi had this to say about the economy and currency values. I thought it might be of an interest. I myself do not know much about the international finance and world  economy and as such have to read and read to get a grasp.

How can USA print money like it’s tissue but the value of $ goes higher and higher? Any other country printing money as they do, would clamps their currency…

The Dollar Is Extremely Strong, Pushing Down the World

The value of the U.S. dollar is the strongest it has been in a generation, devaluing currencies around the world and unsettling the outlook for the global economy as it upends everything from the cost of a vacation abroad to the profitability of multinational companies.

Sepahan,

I like the picture too and I wish them the best. I have come to the opinion that would like to see more and more media exposure of other teams in the Persian Gulf league, other than pes pes and ss. Thanks for bringing the picture to us.
