Comments: I’m not sure if people would accept anyone who has been part of this regime. It could be a way to get rid of the radicals but that would not be a long term solution. Unfortunately, desperate people are looking for anything different. They truly believe anything is better than this! Hard to argue with them…

Comments: Honestly, I have always been against any foreign intervention but based on what I have heard and seen, that might be the only way to get rid of this regime. They got nothing to lose and also everything to lose. They have no plan B! killing thousands, hundreds of thousands or even millions is not out of question. I really don’t have what it takes to go through this. I’m exhausted, sad, angry and hopeless. I can only imagine what people back home feel.

Comments: As my elderly mother says to fix the country and fight with all the dozds and gharatgar RP is too nice and too liberal to do anything. She says we need the original Reza Khan or someone like him.
Our professor friend said something very interesting. After what happened in Venezuela she thinks Trump will agree with a coup and Rouhani in charge. Rouhani is from Amniati background and will work with Trump like the lady who is in charge of Venezuela.

Comments: Zinsky a relative who is a university professor in LA area just got back last night. We picked her up from the Airport. She was crying the whole ride. She said the death toll is unimaginable. She was a bystander watching the huge protests. She also said the whole country is chanting Reza Pahlavi. Kids ranging from 17 to 22 and they don't even listen to their parents. There is no other names except some older generation are hoping maybe Rouhani. She said there may be a coup to put Rouhani in charge. She said before this she was totally against foreign intervention but the government finally sealed it that without foreign intervention nothing will change. The whole country is just waiting for foreign help. Reza Pahlavi is too soft and nice and cannot deal with these ruthless people in charge. they all think that the government will take the whole nation down with them. The government is desperate cornered and has no legitimacy. Everyone thinks they will burn the country down and take the nation down with them. Very sad.

Comments: I’m pretty close to pulling the plug on all social media and internet. As shitty as it sounds, I had a little peace just talking to people I care about. I really need a break … I think we all do but that’s just me

Comments: Leaked photos from an Iranian mortuary show the battered and swollen faces of at least 326 victims, including 18 women, who were killed during the bloody crackdown on protesters — with a United Nations human rights expert warning that the total death toll may exceed 20,000.
Verified pictures from the Kahrizak Forensic Medical Center in Tehran show the individual bodies of the brutalized citizens, whose ages ranged from 12 to 70 years old, the BBC reported.
The images were taken so the dead could be identified by their families, with many relatives finding it difficult to clearly identify them due to the graphic injuries.

Comments: I’m not sure what percentage of people in Iran have a leader in mind. My family is more towards Reza but that doesn’t mean much in bigger picture.
They were mad at him but mostly mad at Trump. They really believed him when he said, “continue demonstrating and help is on its way”! They were asking me if Trump made a deal with IRI! I don’t have a clue. Based on my limited knowledge, he was told that just bombing few places would not do much to the regime and could cause bigger problems in the region. Of course, he lost interest and went after Greenland!
Tomorrow, he could change his mind again. That is his trademark. Never be predictable. Do as much crazy stuff that no one can figure out what you want…

Comments: Other cities showed minimal resistance but Rasht and a few other cities were basically under martial law.

Comments: I was told the heaviest causality was in Rasht. The IRGC actually set fire to one side of the Bazzar and were waiting on the other end for demonstrators to rush out and basically killed somewhere in the neighborhood of 2000 people

Comments: There was a show on npr yesterday where a reporter had gone to the Iran-Turkey border and was interviewing people who were coming out of Iran. One person said that he had a lot of videos and images on his phone but someone ran and snatched the phone from him. Another person said what I think is the sentiment of a lot of people in Iran. He said not a lot of people care about Pahlavi and only want a better life. It does not matter who rules the country. He said they do not even want regime change as long as the economy and lives are normal. He said he was very angry with Reza Pahlavi. He said even though most people do not care about him, when he said come out and help is underway, everyone came out hoping for change. But help did not come and his call only served for the identification of a lot of people and death for them. He asked what kind of a leader would do that? Who promises help in such a dangerous situation when there is nothing. Why did he not get a guarantee for help before opening his mouth?
Really sad.

Comments: I think this latest demonstrations and the response by the regime has hit me really hard. I was hoping that people of Iran and only them could determine their future. It seems that is unlikely. Only when/if the powers of the world decide, things will change. Change to what is a big question. As of today, people in Iran have no say in their lives. It has truly crushed them. False hope is the worse thing that can happen to anyone and that is exactly what is happening right now!

Comments: There is really nothing positive to say about Iran these days. It’s all sadness, anger and frustration. Most are going back to work and school but it’s not USUAL whatsoever.
I’m both glad I went and spent 4 days with them but also extremely sad about everything happening there.
