Thank you Hamvatan for posting. We drove from Phoenix and now spending the week here with relatives. Why is Southern California freezing?

Agree it was impressive crowd. In general I saw the same thing as it was good showing.  I really think Iranians outside doing a great job and all needs to happen is create a bridge between this united council and Iranian people.  The response from Iran was also positive.  



As you mentioned, and as all these opposition leaders are saying, they should not get into the discussions of who is who now. They do need to only promote unity. Anything other than this or anyone talking about tafraghehgari is helping this regime. That is what this regime and the supporters do and that is to put down everyone of them.



I don’t even think you need to discuss monarchy vs Republic, someone started the same with me and my son all we said was we will chose what we want with our votes and that is all.  My son said Let’s not argue about who should or who should not now, as no one will hijack this one.  

Thank you for being part of this cause and let’s hope for the victory of Iranian people against this medieval murderer regime.

Bipartisan House Resolution Rejects Monarchic, Religious Dictatorship, Endorses a Republic in Iran

The analysis is right and in line with my observations.
Only a couple of speakers went off-the-script and started the "رضا شاه، روحت شاد و جاوید شاه" chanting, which came as a shock to me and also some of my surrounding people.
I had a hard time evaluating the crowd size while amongst them, but I trust 80k as a rough estimate. Our caravan from OC was around 20 school buses full.
RP's fanatic supporters are the ones who can derail the current "همبستگی". RP himself has mentioned that many, many times that "if you are my supporters, you need to respect my stand and position on leadership topic" and leave it until i.r. is gone, and the format is decided with a referendum.

Hamvatan with your permission I shared your thoughts with folks who participated in our WC prediction competition. Two reactions to your posts:

Nothing new or surprising here, bunch of old farts unable to comprehend concepts of democracy, majority self rule. Imagine when n if IR is gone n these guys are in the frontline. We’re fucked, turn the clock back 100 yrs.

قدرت مطلق یا ابدی هر انسانی را وسوسه قدرت بیشتر و احساس خود کامگی میکند . که به کوشش به اخذ قدرت بیشتر می انجامد . پادشاهی و یا هر حکومت شخص محور دیگر در دموکراسی قرن ۲۱ جواب نمیدهد

به امید پیروزی ملت سر بلند ایران به دست خودشون و انتخاب خودشون در تعین نوع حکومت . من فقط نظر شخصی خود را بیان کردم و به نظر دیگران احترام میگذرم.

Doostan, I attended the demonstration last Saturday in LA. Here are my takes:

• The showing was impressive. There were some exaggerated accounts, but I believe LAPD’s estimate of 80K was in line. By naked eye view, I could see that crowd could fill Azadi stadium.
• Most speeches (including RP’s) and chants were of central theme; however, the organizers were giving the tribune to some fossils (LA TV personalities) who were outwardly promoting Saltanat-Talabs chants which caused some dismay and disturbed the unity. Some of the crowd (minority) were Shahollahi and were seizing the moment with “Javid Shah” and alike chants. I hope this behavior does not discourage people from showing up as these people were trying to take over.
• Reza Pahlavi himself keeps saying that he is not after power and post. But the zealots keep pushing Monarchy while everybody is trying to unite against IR to get rid of them. RP needs to come out strong in telling his die-hard followers to stop behaving like this and wait until IR is gone and participate in the activities towards a referendum then. There was this lady who was a shahollahi and was cursing a guy who was showing dismay at their behavior. She was telling him that RP is good person and having monarchy is our tradition! I engaged with her telling her what they are doing is not right by pressuring everyone to accept their view. Once there is a referendum, they can promote and vote their views. That’s what democracy is all about. I told her my view on the future style of government and that we should not have a government based on permanent appointment. No matter who it is (even if RP is a good person) we have been down that road before when Khomeini said he is going to Ghom and not govern. She went ballistic saying “you are comparing RP with Khomeini”? I said it is not about RP it is about anyone with a permanent appointment. She was saying that in Europe they have Monarchies in democratic countries. I told her those monarchies have no power and are just symbolic. What good is that going to do in Iran where we need change and selected leaders with executive power. Anyhow, she could not muster any reasonable response and left the scene!
• Overall, it was a good showing.
