I think Iranian living in Iran should completely look passed the ones outside because of the very reason that you mention zinsky. Someone internally needs to unit the people inside Iran. Whether the ones outside are united or not is immaterial.

I think Sepahan has the tougher game at hand, playing a team that may get relegated, if they do not do well, versus the reds who will play a team that is safe from relegation and far enough from the top to have any ambition.

Very true.

I should say that this board has some personal agenda mixed in as well, and so, unity here is even harder, but in general, I am afraid that we mostly talk passed each other on the political issues.

I read massages on both IFPs plus few others non sport Iranian groups.
One thing I want to say is that if the people in Iran are waiting for us (Iranians living abroad) to unite and help them, they might need another 40 year or more. By then, most of us be gone and hopefully the 2nd and 3rd generation Iranians are easier to get along!!!
Our generation (50 &60 years old) are not ready for real unity against this regime. Most (75% or so) want change but no group has more than 20% support. That would be fine if people could communicate and compromise but not this group…

Realist, I am going to follow my friend's advice from Rasht and not continue this discussion. But a few last thoughts before I do that.

IMO The referendum is not happening any time soon. Hoping for it to happen is false hope.

The biggest issue that I have with the line of argument that you are making (this is not just you but a lot of others as well) is this part:"the opposition is the entire people of iran"

Looks like you are already skipping the referendum or are getting ready to do so. This then puts you in the same bucket as the government. How are you any different than the existing government? This core belief seeps through all the pretty words you say and that scares a whole lot more people than you think.

Faramarz khan you say if people took a vote now, they would side with the government. That is exactly what some of us are saying here. To have government grant us with a referendum and let see what majority want. if the government was as certain as you that people side with government they would have done it in a beat.

Also Faramarz Khan there is no more middle class in iran and NO, in iran the opposition is not minority, the opposition is the entire people of iran.

Anyways, looks like you are saying there is no solution. The dynamics are not there. You are correct Iranian charismatic leaders not seeing the daylight by foreign funded mediums, can they see the daylight in iran somehow, is there a way they can showcase themselves in domestic media?

Lastly, shall people give up?

So, Realist, the first thing I would do or not do is to flame so hot that you burn people and chase them away. Your description of the people in Iran is a good place to start. You are completely, either ignoring, or dismissing, the population that is not burning as hot as you and is in the middle. You speak as if they do not exist, or even worse, they do not have a say. I disagree that everyone is in the same boat as you. I think it is a lot like Zinsky described which is a good 30%-40%, if you took a vote now, they would side with the government. This has various reasons, religion, financial, etc. Then there is the large middle which I do not think is with you at all. They do want a change but not at all cost. This is the critical group not the minority that is burning very hot and will get disappointed and discouraged very quickly. The large middle is in it for life but need to be led and convinced. Neither a lame leader like RP nor a crazy burn like Sakkoui will be able to convince the middle to risk it all and come on the streets.

So, my recommendation for you, if you are willing to listen, is not to burn so hot and expect a change tomorrow, and rather plan for the long term and burn at a rate that your flame can last that long. Everyone in the world wants this regime to stay and so, it will take some time for this dynamic to change. There is a need for a charismatic leader that can lead. There are many, but are not seeing the daylight in any of the foreign/foreign funded media.

Tehran Times – TEHRAN, Ex-Persepolis football team head coach Afshin Ghotbi has been named as a candidate to take charge of coachless Iran U23 football team.

The U23 team director Habib Kashani has previously worked with Ghotbi in Persepolis, where the Iranian-American coach inspired the giants club to a title in domestic league in 2008.

Ghotbi, 59, has also worked as head coach in Iran national football team and Foolad club. He is currently the coach of Vancouver FC who play in the Canadian Premier League.

Paykan coach Mojtaba Hosseini and Zob Ahan trainer Mehdi Tartar are also two candidates to lead the team.

Mehdi Mahdavikia resigned from his post as head coach of the U23 team in October 2022 and the team are without a coach with four months remaining until the 2024 AFC U23 Asian Cup qualification.

The competition will be held from Sept. 4 to 12 in Qatar.

The 2024 AFC U23 Asian Cup will act as the AFC qualifiers for the 2024 Paris Olympics men’s football tournament.
