Comments: My uncle passed away some 10 years ago or so. He became a major figure in oil and gas economical circle in USA. He had his phd in economics and worked for various oil companies in America.

If they beat Indonesia in the final they will get promoted to Division A next year and play with the big girls! Comments: LOL khodA begam chikAret nakone. I watched the Iran - Kazak basketball game end to end! Nearly two hours. Have to say enjoyed it more than some of the soccer games. Kazak coach was an SOB!! Iran's best shooter FAeze missed 8 free throws in a row at the end. But man they have some good three point shooters.

Once out of Iran, it did not matter where I was. Everything was outside Iran! I remember even considering going to the University of Alaska until I realized that it was inside a military base. There was no infrastructure at that time for a University to survive outside the base at that time. :)But the mechanism of applying is quite interesting. So, you had to go to the US embassy to get the University application? I guess once a few Iranians settled in Utah because of this, then others followed even up into the 70's!
Comments: Faramarz, I did ask my uncle about Utah and his answer was simple but still interesting. In 1950s, the only way to get accepted to US universities and get the student visa seemed to be to go to US embassy and get the available applications. Apparently, there were only a handful of universities that had applications available in Iran. Utah, Texas and DC area were more popular since they actually were trying to recruit foreign students. My uncle told me that he had no idea where Utah was at the time and apparently he didn’t care either!
Comments: The zobahan - sepahan game was a great game! Agha lol, I did not know Iran could not participate in international competition because of the dress code! So, if they let them play, does that mean they decided to admit that they were wrong? Good for Tina. She is a distance shooter too!

Comments: Zinsky, did you say your uncle ended up in Utah? I know a few others who ended up in Utah as well. Some of my high school friends left before graduation for a boarding school in Utah. Do you know why so many Iranians ended up in Utah during Shah's era (70's)? That is a really odd thing!
Comments: Wow, Rashti jAn that was a great story! I have to say I do not know much about Karim khAn, or even the entire Zandiye dynasty. So, I do not know whether the sory is entirely made up or partially true. Regardless, I enjoy reading stories like this Mamnoon. Shahnameh has a few like these as well.
Comments: Iran’s freestyle team won the title of the 2023 U-20 World Wrestling Championships for the third time in a row Wednesday night in Amman, Jordan. The Iranian team, headed by Mohsen Kaveh, claimed four golds, two silver medals and one bronze to claim the title with 165 points. The US finished in second place with 152 points and India came third with 102 points. Mohammad Reza Shakeri beat Jesse Mendez from the US 5-2 in the final bout of 65kg to win Iran’s first gold. Abolfazl Babaloo emerged victorious over Ukraine’s Ivan Prymache 5-0 in the final match of 97kg. Mohammad Mobin Azimi defeated Rizabek Aitmukhan of Kazakhstan 5-4 in the 92kg final bout. And Amir Reza Masoumi seized the gold by defeating Russian wrestler Said Akhmatov 11-0 in the final bout of 125kg. Iran’s Ali Rezaei and Hossein Mohammad Aghaei lost to American wrestlers Meyer Shapiro (11-6) and Mitchell Mesenbrink (15-5) in the 70kg and 74kg final bouts, respectively. Ali Mahmoud Khorramdel also won the bronze medal in 61kg.

Comments: agha farid Iran was not allowed to play in international basketball until recently when FIBA approved their outfits. They only played in Islamic games. So Tina had to wait a long long time and she makes it to TM at 50, the other players are younger than her kids And she is good which is why she plays a few minutes every game. Anyway Iran won 3 games so far, that's their first wins in international basketball since 1972. Last nite they beat KAZ and will play Jordan in the semis, they have some American players on their roster. Comments: صبح همگی دوستان بخیر. "کریمخان زند" از دیار مالمیر(ایذه) می گوید در آنجا مردمانی دیدم که در سخاوت بی نظیرند و در شجاعت کمنظیر در لشکرکشی به آن دیار به مالمیر رسیدیم، شب شد و در دامنهی کوهی اردو زدیم شبانه برای سرکشی به لشکریان گشت زدم. در میانه کوه آتشی دیدم که نظرم را جلب کرد. با یکی از همراهان بدانسوی رفتیم. در کنار آتش مردی نشسته بود که تصور کردم ایستاده است، نشسته آن به قد یک انسان معمولی بود. کلاهی بر سر داشت که به تاج شاهی شبیه بود. کلاهش نظرم را گرفت، سلامش دادیم، جواب داد، بدون اینکه تکانی بخورد با دستش تعارف به نشستن کرد. گویی که یک چوپان بر او وارد شده است.! بهمزاح به او گفتم کلاهت به تاج ما می ماند!! نگاهش را متوجهم کرد و گفت *کلاه من از اصالت است تاج شما از قدرت*! کنایهاش رنجورم کرد. خواستم انتقام بگیرم، به او گفتم پس مرا میشناسی و از جا بر نخواستی؟ با لبخند گفت: نشستهام که چون تویی برخیزد، مرا بیلیست و تو را شمشیری! بسیار پخته سخن میگفت که جای جسارت به او باقی نبود. از احوالش پرسیدم و اینکه قدرت ما را چگونه میبیند؟ گفت مردمان این دیار کشاورزند و سر به کار خود دارند ولی اگر کسی به نانشان حمله کند به جانش حمله خواهند کرد.! در کلامش تهدید بود. با نیشخندی گفتم صبح معلوم میشود. همان خنده را تحویلم داد و گفت صبح معلوم میشود. لختی نشستیم و از کاسه ماستش خوردیم و به لشکرگاه برگشتیم. شب از نیمه گذشته بود که به خواب رفتیم. صبح همهمه سپاه مرا بیدار کرد. از دربان پرسیدم چه خبر شده؟ پریشان گفت: آقا اسبان سپاه را بردهاند. از خیمه بیرون زدم، کفشی برای پوشیدن نبود. کفش و سلاح را هم برده بودند!! با سپاهیان با پای برهنه به سمت روستایی روان شدیم بدانجا که رسیدیم از جلال و جبروتمان چیزی نمانده بود. چون گدایان و درماندگان سراغ خانه کدخدا را گرفتیم. به درب خانه که رسیدیم دروازه چوبینش باز بود خانه باغی وسیع که پر از درختان میوه بود ولی از میوه خبری نبود. در ایوان خانهای در آخر باغ مردی ایستاده و خیرمقدم میگفت بفرمائید. تعدادمان زیاد بود، من و همراهان سلام کردیم و با تکبری که با خود داشتیم ولی با آن اوضاع نابهسامان خواستم وارد شوم که جوانی برومند با آفتابه مسی پر آب جلو آمد بر دست و صورتم آبی زدم و آفتابه را روی پاهایم گرفت. مرد به سپاهیان اشاره کرد که در کنار جوی آبی که از میان باغ میگذشت دست و صورت بشویند. سپاه مشغول شستشو بود که مرا تعارف به داخل کرد گویی از قبل سالنهای آن امارت برای پذیرایی آماده بود در محوطه باغ هم فضایی بزرگ برای نشستن مهیا شده بود. از من و از سپاهیانم بهخوبی پذیرایی شد. استراحتی کردیم و زمان به شب نزدیک میشد. به کدخدا گفتم مرا میشناسید؟ نگاهی کرد و گفت اگر کلاهی بر سر داشتی بهتر میشناختم، ولی با این سپاهی که به همراه داری میشود شناخت! آنان سخنشان را با هنر بیان میکردند! مرا در لفافه شاه بیتاج خطاب کرده بود! کلامش را خوب میفهمیدم ولی با مهماننوازی که کرده بود شرم داشتم که او را برنجانم گفتم شما که این همه لطف کردهاید کلاهی هم بدهید. دست بر سینه برد و با احترام گفت: *کلاه ما برای شما بزرگ است تاجی را به شما هدیه خواهیم کرد*!! از کنایه بزرگی کلاهشان برای من به خشم آمده بودم ولی از تاج پیشکشی شرمنده!! این مردمان در کلام و مقام بینظیر بودند. وقتی آماده برای رفتن شدیم همه سپاه را با کفش مخصوصی به نام خلاتک دیدم… گیوه خاصی که جلوی پای من گذاشتند، کفشی بسیار نرم و سبک که انسان از پوشیدنش لذت میبرد. از درب باغ که خارج شدیم اسبانی زین کرده و آماده در محوطه بیرون بسته بودند با تعجب آن همه اسب و زین را نگاه کردم و خواستم سخنی بگویم که کدخدا با اشاره دست گفت اسب شما آن اسب سفید است….. اسبی بسیار زیبا. گفتم این همه سخاوت از کیست؟ گفت خان گفته به شما بگویم: *ما رعیتیم و سرمان به کار خودمان است،* *اگر کسی به نانمان حمله کند به جانش حمله میکنیم و اگر شاهی مروت پیشه کند برایش جان میدهیم و تاجش هدیه میکنیم* *تکبر را از خود دور کن و شاهی کن تا رعیت در رفاه باشد!!* . . میگویند به همین علت کریمخان لقب *وکیلالرعایا* را برای خود برگزید.! ✍️از نوشته های میر غریب(میرزا) مرابهتاریخخودم ببر ! تاریخی که درآن رقاصهای زیبا میرقصند.... تاریخی که بوسههای ناب دارد! برهنگیهای پاک... آوازهای زیبا ... پشتِ رودخانههای خروشان... مرا به تاریخ خودم ببر.... به تاریخی که ... زنان در جهان حکومت کنند... و مردان ملتی سر به زیر باشند... و مردان فقط عاشق شوند... مرا به تاریخ خودم ببر! 👤محمود درویش
