Comments: رشتی, I guess it’s all relative. Southern California is used to earthquakes, fires and droughts. Rain and storm is unusual. In the south and east they are very common. It’s still damaging and dangerous but it is what it is.

Comments: Temperature has dropped quite a bit after Hillary though. I am enjoying low 60's temperature! I think they make everything bigger for two reasons: 1. Anything that has a name is considered an act of god and insurance wont cover it. 2. Local authorities declare a state of emergency and lobby for Federal resources. Before Hillary hit, Newsome declared the whole state as a disaster zone! Immediately after Hillary went through the county, city declared state of emergency. Nothing other than some minor flooding and one mudslide happened. Before they found out any of this the declarations were out!
Comments: Based on what I have heard so far, Hilary was a weak storm with heavy rain but nothing else. I’m glad it didn’t turn into what was feared. Back to sunny Monday morning!

Comments: As for the hurricane, in our neck of the woods (Ventura County), it has been just lots of rain but no wind. But we did have an EQ of 5.5 magnitude (in Ojai) that jolted us pretty good. I think next is fires. SoCal has become the destination for all type of disasters.
Comments: On top of everything else going on in Southern California it appears there is a preliminary magnitude 5.0 earthquake north .east of Ventura in the last hour. 7 miles south east of Ojai

Comments: Faramarz, There are few of them. They used to have them for temp installation (camp) and such. The best part is that they can be installed rather easily and quickly. Of course the city/state won’t like that but …
Comments: Zinsky is there a company that makes the foils? I think you are right. We already had a very unusual winter with many rain storms. I think this is climate change settling in. We will see this again! Pacific storms will become a thing!
Comments: If true, this would be a great alternative to rooftop solar solar foils made from hydrocarbons! These foils can improve that as they are lightweight, large surface area, low cost and robustness. The organic solar cell can store much larger quantities of solar energy than other solar technologies due to its high optical absorption coefficients.
Comments: Based on the map, it seems it went further east from San Diego downtown. I’m glad it wasn’t anything to worry about. Unfortunately, this could be a pattern. I don’t think we would wait another 80 years for this kind of stuff! |
