Comments: Aaghaa Zinsky thank you for the news. I was reading teh same news as well. It seems to be a big deal but I do not understand why. Do you know what the purpose of Briks is? They seem to be a random group of countries that other than Iran, are not really aligned with Russia or China. Is the purpose of the group economic alliance? Later in the year, the US imposed restrictions on exports of semiconductor technology to China. “As the US weaponises the dollar in the Russian and Iran sanctions, there is increasing desire by other developing countries to seek alternative currencies for trade, investment, and reserves, as well as developing alternative multilateral clearance systems outside of SWIFT,” Shirley Ze Yu, a senior visiting fellow at the London School of Economics, told Al Jazeera. Yu added that as the US Federal Reserve has raised interest rates in recent years, “developing countries have widely suffered from paying higher interests on their dollar debt and battling the exchange rate impact from a strong dollar. The interest to borrow in local currencies or other currencies is strongly motivated by economic considerations”. The impetus for Global South countries trying to find an alternative is more a “practical consideration” than a moral one, Gustavo de Carvalho, a policy analyst on Russia-Africa ties, told Al Jazeera, as they view the recent sanctions and ask: “What are the risks that we are facing by engaging with one currency globally that may be utilised for political purposes?”

Comments: Faramarz, Just like about anything, when the media goes all out to make a story, it will take away the importance of the event. I am afraid this and few more of these will happen in the next few years without serious damage. The problem is that people become less worried about the next one and the next one. At some point it will be a big one and people just don't take it seriously. They do it here is East Coast as well. Every snowstorm or summer rainstorm gets pumped up by media. Most are harmless. I personally have gotten used to avoiding them. I am certain very soon, a big one will hit, and I will be left without power, flooded basement & stuck in the roof of my home (if the roof still there!!!).

Ahmadreza Mohsennejhad, Alireza Abdevali and Fardin Hedayati bagged three gold medals for Iran, Yazdi and Ali Choubani won two silver medals, and Dehbozorgi won bronze medals for their country. Iranian team became the champions with 162 points, followed by the teams of Georgia with 89 and Armenia with 88 points in second and third places, respectively. The Iranian wrestling teams have made history this year after four teams of U17 freestyle wrestling, U17 Greco-Roman wrestling, U20 freestyle wrestling and U20 Greco-Roman wrestling won the world championship.
