Comments: HAMVATAN Jaan, That was a beautiful story. I’m assume fathers knew each other as my father was in charge of the weapon acquisition. He used to tell me that he left his hometown of Zanjan after his parents passed away when he was 15. He finished high school in Tehran by himself. He took the konkoor to become a doctor but financial difficulties made him join the army. He actually passed the test but it was too late to get out of army. He tried to convince the military to let him go to college and then join the army as a doctor but it didn’t work out! Long story short, he worked his was from a soldier to a general. He was healthy and athletic until what he went through after revolution. He suddenly became very sick. I believe he was so heartbroken that it literally broke his heart. He spent 10 years fighting his dismissal and finally, few years before his death, received full benefits and back pay. Unfortunately, he didn’t get to enjoy his victory in court. On the other hand, my mom still receives his retirement benefits.

Comments: Zinsky jan. My dad's experience was similar to yours in dealing with IRI. He was in the Airforce on the technical side of operations (Aircraft evals and repair). He had finished his trainings (1962) originally in US for F-5 and later in Iran for F-4, C-130 and F-14. He was later also instructor for Homafars (Airforce Engineering Crew). He tried retiring since he was was past 35 years of service and wanted to move us back to Tehran instead of moving to Isfahan (F-14 base). We were in Dezful and Bushehr for the last 8 years of his service. At time of Shah (5 years before revolution), his superiors kept blocking him his retirement but he forced his way into retirement. Then Northrop approached him to work for them in Iranian Aircraft Industry which was initially co-owned by Northrop and Iran. He was very happy and took the job and worked up to a few month after the revolution. He quit because of the young Hezbollahi rishoos taking over and disrespecting all the core staff. He went back to help for free when the war started but left after a year due to the same issue on inept people in charge. He was heartbroken feeling unappreciated. I think the core Airforce is part of Artesh but they created a separate IRGC airforce unit. The Airforce personnel now really respect the pre-revolution staff. My mom and dad went to Bushehr and he wanted to take a look at AFB to see how it had developed (we were there when it was just established). When he went to the gate to inquire they got a high ranking general come and greet him. They took them to the base hotel and provided them with everything for a few day stay. He really enjoyed the recognition. When he passed away they sent Airforce Cadets (I guess they found out via acquaintances) to stand guard outside the salon where the reception was. He was not a high rank official but put his life in an honorable service.

Comments: I usually don’t give Trump any praises but I think this is the right move. By giving KSA the right for civilian nuclear program, it makes it easier to accept Iran’s right as well in any future negotiations. He realized stopping Iran is not possible so take it off the table. 2nd, he just showed the finger to Israel. Basically telling them, “you can’t be the only one in Middle East with nuclear program!”. He is looking for an off-ramp to this war and he might just found one. Without nuclear issues, the negotiations could go much easier. They will now have to agree on the Hormuz issue that was not an issue to begin with. If smart, both sides agree on some sort of settlement that helps them both. Iran gets what it wants and Trump has an excuse to finish the war without looking like a fool!
