Faramarz,

I think most of us including myself agree with that assessment but majority of people back home are willing to take the risk as the present is unbearable.

Zinsky jan,
I have lost that argument with my family back home as well. They do not want anything that has to do with IRI (Rohani or any other figure). I don't blame them. They have endured so much and have no hope. To me its the call of people in Iran not me sitting here in comfort and freedom.

By the way, I just talked to my family via WhatsApp (they called from Shomal after fleeing Tehran as their homes are close to the areas with Gov. Officials or by Niroo Havaei command center). It cut off once in a while but I spoke for more than 45 minutes. They praised "Imam Trump"[biggrin]
They were jubilant that the Khamenei and some of his guys were eliminated. My sister was saying people are emboldened beyond belief and will pour into the streets soon, She said after news of Khamenei news the streets were full of dancing people and no sight of Basij or Government presence. They are being moved away from their bases.

"There is an emergency meeting in iran behind the closed doors as neighboring countries especially Oman pressuring what is left of Islamic Republic to surrender for amnesty. Oman is negotiating with the White House to get amnesty for those who surrender. Oman has also asked Iran to cease its retaliation against the US bases in neighboring gulf countries. Iran on the other hand asked for immediate ceasefire before agreeing to anything."

Highly unlikely for Iran to accept a one sided capitulation at this point, there’ll be no advantage for em on negotiating table.

My guess is missiles will be flying all night towards UAE, Bahrain and Israel as a message that iran may be down but it aint out yet.

If plan for some in Iran is to survive this, they know they need to project some type of strength

Back to really important stuff!
FIFA will "monitor developments" in Iran following the outbreak of military action by the United States -- the co-hosts of this summer's men's World Cup -- against the Middle Eastern nation, which has qualified for the tournament and is due to play its group games in the U.S.
President Donald Trump, who was given the FIFA Peace Prize by FIFA president Gianni Infantino in December, announced the commencement of missile strikes on Iran on Saturday, calling the mission a "major combat operation."

HAMVATAN Jan,
I lost that argument with my family. They just simply don’t care anymore. They want IRI gone. Nothing could be worse than this is what they believe.

Rumors are (who knows if it’s true) that as part of the deal with US, Iran agreed to get rid of rahbar. He might not be dead but flown out of the country under assumed name and new look. He is probably next door to Assad!

An Iranian man left this comment on a YouTube channel. This is without a doubt the single best explanation of the reality facing Iranian people today

"As an Iranian, I can tell you the situation is no longer just political—it's existential. We are trapped between two collapsing structures: one internal, one external. On one hand, we face a deeply dysfunctional government, led by the Supreme Leader and the Islamic Republic’s unelected institutions. Decades of economic mismanagement, suppression of dissent, and brutal ideological control have alienated multiple generations. No one believes in reform anymore—because every attempt has either been co-opted or crushed. But here's the paradox: We are also terrified of regime collapse—because we've watched the aftermath of Western intervention in countries like Iraq, Libya, Syria, and Afghanistan. Each was promised freedom; each descended into chaos, civil war, or foreign occupation. So no, we don't trust the U.S. or Israel. Not because we support our regime—but because we know how imperial powers treat ‘liberated’ nations in the Middle East. Freedom, in their language, often means vacuum, fire, and permanent instability. Right now, many Iranians live with three truths at once: The Islamic Republic is morally and politically bankrupt. The alternatives offered by foreign actors are not liberation—they’re collapse. A bad government is survivable. No government is not. We are not silent because we agree. We are cautious because we’ve learned—too well—what happens when superpowers decide to "help." In a sentence: Iran is a nation held hostage by its own regime, but haunted by the fate of its neighbors. We are stuck in a house we hate, surrounded by fires we fear more."

President Trump announced on Saturday that the U.S.-Israeli attacks on Iran had killed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the nation’s supreme leader for almost 37 years and an implacable enemy of Israel and the United States, in a potentially seismic political shift in Tehran and the broader region.
“Khamenei, one of the most evil people in History, is dead,” Mr. Trump wrote on Truth Social. He added: “He was unable to avoid our Intelligence and Highly Sophisticated Tracking Systems and, working closely with Israel, there was not a thing he, or the other leaders that have been killed along with him, could do.”

If KhAmenei is truely dead, it has to be intentional. They knew this was coming. They couldn't have provided a better hideout?

So, now we will have to see what is in the plans for the country.
