Zinsky, as far as I understand, it is for prevention of identity theft. You create an account with each of the three credit companies and have them freeze your credit. Before you apply for a loan, u can unfreeze it, do your business, and then freeze it again.

I have not and don’t know much about it but based on my limited knowledge, it is useful with further enquirers but visible to existing ones. Also government can still access your credit.
I’m not sure why I would want to do this. Do you have a specific use for it?
