An Iranian beach has turned bright red after heavy rainfall poured over Hormoz Island. A high concentration of iron oxide in the soil gives the Iranian mountain its bright red colour, which has stained the rainwater to appear like blood.

Weather has become crazy. Tornado strength winds are unheard of in california but we had them this year. It took Faramarz's fence away. [rofl]

Last year when I was here, many friends and family were hoping for Trump to become president and help change Iran. This time around, everyone is at awe about how he is running the country. They can’t believe he can do what he is doing without any checks and balances. They keep asking me if this can be done! Can a president do this and that? I don’t really know what to say!

On monster storms, we had one here for San Diego standards. It broke and blew away my entire fence ~ 100 meters. This has never happened here!

You guys have got to see the ending of the Michigan - Maryland game. The lead changed hands four times in the last 20 seconds. Amazing finish!

On the affordability, I have a relative who works for the World Bank. He is an analyst for them. He say Iran has the most peculiar economy. Unlike other countries, it has two almost completely independent economies. One is the one that is advertised and we see. It is the one that is run by the government and severely affected by sanctions, policy, etc. the second is an entirely private sector economy that almost never is affected by the first one. It is also not based on the local currency and follows the dollar value. This second economy is not affected by sanctions or price rises. If prices go up, it will simply increase the prices of the goods and services that it sells. So, they are like a corkscrew on water. Whether the economy goes up or down is irrelevant and they will be always o the surface.

So, those who work for the second economy, $ valuation and local prices do not matter. But those who solely work for the first economy and do not have a second private job on the side, life is very difficult and they suffer the most.

I think the people that you see on the streets shopping are all those dependent on the second economy which is much larger than the first one.

Good morning Tehran.
I will try to go see it but there are so many things I want to do while here.
Prices have almost doubled and some even more since last year. People are still out shopping but I’m not sure how.
Sangak is 25,000 toman. That is the government subsidize price. There are private ones at 50,000.
There is no shortage of stuff but very expensive for locals.
I had Ab-Anar yesterday. Man, it was so refreshing. Love the food but even more, love the juice and snacks.
