Comments: Agha Mashti, I am not certain, but if I had t oguess, I would say that the change in daily playing time may have something to do with the specific team's local time in their country and when they have maximum TV viewing audience. Having said that, "corrupt FIFA" doesn't always do the logical thing.

Comments: ever since Iran's exit, I only watched two complete games..., 1) Austria vs Algeria for obvious reasons, and 2) Mexico vs Ecuador, for obvious reasons :) I only watch other games a few minutes a t a time, since most of the joy has left me  I am rooting for Mexico, Morocco and Spain.
Comments: Doostan, I posted this yesterday before the games yesterday and now I am reeally hoping it comes through... There is a part of me who wishes the following chain of events: 1) USA beats Bosnia 2) Belgium beats Senegal 3) Belgium beats USA Then USA would have wished Iran had advanced and they could have played against IRAN (ranked #22), versus Belgium (Rank #9)..., That would be poetic justice.

Comments: I am absolutely beekaar so I watch most of the games. Maybe not fully but some of each game live. Most teams that I wanted to win, didn’t. It obviously shows in my predictions. I’m getting to hate VAR. not only for how it was used against Iran but the whole concept. If a call is so hard to make that you need multiple people look at it from every angle and in slow motion, it should not be called. Too much time wasted and too many calls are questionable. If the refs can’t decide on a call, it is probably not a call! Offside is probably the most complicated decision and we see it everyday. There is almost zero reason for calling an offside if it is that close.

Comments: I think with the larger pool of 48 FIFA has managed to make the quality of the competition even worse. It is not just that some worse teams have made it here. It is also that with the larger pool, FIFA cannot manage the competition so that good teams do not run into each other so early. Both USA-Bosnia and Brazil-Japan games were at the same level of the final 32. But man the quality of the games were radically different. In an idea world, the first two would have to play the latter two before Japan and Brazil had to compete against each other. but now, we have a situation that a mediocre team like US will advance and the likes of Japan, Netherlands, Germany sit out. Anything for money ...
Comments: Thanks Zinsky for the information regarding the Red card. I only watched the first half of the US game and already had noticed how "rough" they were p[laying.
