Comments: I don’t know much about crypto currencies and mining for them. It has been a rumor for a while that there are few high profile individuals in Iran who have access to unlimited power (Solar and battery backup plus regular power) and high speed internet via satellite who are making good money mining cryptos. I don’t know if this is true but it doesn’t sound too far fetched! I’ve been saying this for a while that solar power would be great for Iran. We have plenty of empty land and 10 months of intense sun in the middle of the country, just south of Tehran. I was told that solar is becoming more common in Iran. Not in the massive way I would like to see but factories and large residential buildings are using them for emergencies (battery backup). Funny/sad part is that government is penalizing this! One has to pay a fee to use solar!!!

One of the main problmes with Iran's economy is the crazy subsidies that the government puts in public utilites and transport costs. Electricity, fuel and water is ridiculously cheap in Iran which leads to smuggling to neighboring countries and wasteful usage pattern by the people. Both the green movement and Amini protests were very serious and effective but when people needed the West to support them (not bombing anyone but show full support for the people), they stood by and didn’t do anything.
