“The director of the National Counterterrorism Center, a retired Green Beret and longtime supporter of President Donald Trump, says he has resigned over the war in Iran.
“I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation," Joe Kent said in a statement posted on X on Tuesday. "It is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby."
The National Counterterrorism Center oversees U.S. government intelligence on terrorist threats and retains a database of all known and “suspected terrorists”

Trump said he spoke to a former president about bombing Iran. Four denials suggest otherwise.

Trump said twice Monday that he spoke to one of his predecessors about the Iran war and that the former president said he wished he had taken the action Trump did.

UN seeking Iran access to investigate deadly school strikepublished at 04:06

A member of the United Nations Iran fact-finding mission says investigators are seeking access to the site of a deadly strike on a school carried out at the beginning of the conflict.

Max du Plessis says the UN has credible reports at least 168 people were killed in the strike, in Minab in southern Iran, and the majority were female students - many as young as seven-years-old.

Du Plessis says the UN is trying to find out who is responsible, what the reason for the attack was, and what the legal consequences, "if any", may be.

"We're in the early stage of the investigation," he says.

The US is carrying out its own investigation into the strike, and du Plessis says while the team hasn't yet spoken to anyone from the US, they would welcome any information provided, though stresses the UN's "independent" obligation to determine the facts.

"We've requested access to Iran and we'll continue to seek that access," he says.

Exclusive: Macquarie walks away from Kuwait oil pipelines deal amid Iran war, sources say

March 17 (Reuters) - Macquarie (MQG.AX), opens new tab has withdrawn from bidding for a stake in Kuwait's oil pipeline network worth up to $7 billion, two sources familiar with ‌the matter said, becoming one of the first known investors to pull out of a Gulf deal due to the Iran war.
The Australian infrastructure investor notified Kuwait Petroleum Corporation on Friday that it was exiting the process because of the conflict and uncertain outlook, one source said, as dealmakers try to press ahead with the transaction despite unprecedented regional volatility.

This should make Trump go postal on his military leaders and start insulting Iranians with more choice words! The spokesman tells him in English you can not win wars with tweets and better call your operation "epic fear" rather than "epic fury"!

Total Destruction: In 1 Samuel 15:3, the prophet Samuel delivers a direct command from God to King Saul: "Now go and strike Amalek and utterly destroy all that they have... kill both man and woman, child and infant, ox and sheep, camel and donkey".
In modern terminology, the biblical command to "utterly destroy" Amalek is frequently described as genocidal because it targets an entire ethnic group—including women, children, and infants—for complete elimination.
Yaboo frequently refers to Iran as the Amalak when he talks in Hebru.

I truly believe that had Europe developed balls sooner, we would not have had this war, or may be even Palestinian issue or a rouge state of Israel.

EU finally grew some balls. That what happens when you keep attacking them and propose to eliminate NATO.
I assume EU will ratify the NATO to include only European countries.

In an interview yesterday, US President Donald Trump warned that NATO faces a “very bad” future if US allies fail to assist in securing the Strait of Hormuz, the vital oil waterway currently blocked by Iran.

Here’s how some key countries have responded to Trump’s request for assistance in the strait:

  • European Union: EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said that it’s in Europe’s “interest” to keep the Strait of Hormuz open, but also said that “it is out of NATO’s area of action” and that “there are no NATO countries in the Strait of Hormuz.”
  • Germany: A German government spokesperson said this morning that “this war has nothing to do with NATO. It is not NATO’s war.” Germany’s Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul also told reporters that he does not see a role for NATO members in the Strait of Hormuz.
  • United Kingdom: British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said today that his country is working with allies “to bring together a viable collective plan that can restore freedom of navigation in the region as quickly as possible and ease the economic impact.”
  • Australia: Though it wasn’t asked by Trump to send vessels to the Strait of Hormuz, Australia’s transportation minister said today that her country will not be sending ships to the waterway.
  • China: China’s foreign ministry spokesperson sidestepped a question about whether it had received any US requests to send ships to the Strait of Hormuz, calling on “all parties to immediately cease military actions, avoid further escalation of tensions, and prevent regional turbulence from inflicting greater impacts on global economic development.”
  • Japan: Japanese leader Sanae Takaichi told parliament today that the country is not currently planning to dispatch warships to the strait.

Here's the latest

Strait of Hormuz: US President Donald Trump criticized allies who have rebuffed his demands to assist the US in fully reopening the Strait of Hormuz, as administration officials work to rally support for a coalition. No countries have yet committed to sending warships to the key waterway, which Iran claims is operating under “special conditions.”

• Oil prices spike: EU energy ministers are meeting today to discuss how to curb rising energy costs. The price of oil yesterday rose to its highest level since July 2022. US gas prices are now at their highest since October 2023, with diesel just shy of $5 a gallon.

• Across the region: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi accused neighboring countries that host US bases of enabling attacks on Iran. Meanwhile, Israel says it is expanding “limited” ground operations in Lebanon, where more than a million people have been internally displaced.
