Comments: Thanks Ali, While I agree the currency in iran is not following any normal logic, I still believe sanctions or relaxation of it will effect the currency in the short term. It seems some $2 billion of Iranian assets are being released/unfrozen. More $$$ in circulation could help bring the Toman value higher. I predict 25k in short term. I can’t predict the future and do believe it will move higher eventually.

This is purely from a financial standpoint and does not take into account what Israel - Russia - USA are cooking for Iran politically. They are in it together. Comments: Lifting of the sanctions is only the driver for which way or I should say how much the dollar go up. The main driver for value of the dollar is inflation. at best the inflation in Iran during the best days of JCPOA was 10%. We are at 40% inflation in Iran (At least that is what is reported). Assuming 40% inflation the value of dollar at the end of 1400 will be 30,800. Now if all sanctions are removed (Yes all sanctions) and going back to good days of 10% inflation then the value of the dollar will be 33,880 toman at the end of 1401. So it is all about inflation.
Comments: Zinsky, Dollar value in Iran is an arbitrary artificial number created by kalan billionaires with no economic basis. Two credible economists one from Iran and one from London predicted Dollar at minimum will eventually hit 46,000 toman with an agreement and eventually near 100,000 toman without agreement. The sanctions unfortunately did its damage and there is just no basis for reversal. Add to it mismanagement of $$$ by the government by threatening Bank Markazi to print more money. Printing of the money is like a poison to the economy but then you need cash for people to pay for things or pay their salaries. Bottom line is that it is people who are suffering the most from this heavy non JCPOA sanctions imposed by the west started by the asshole trump and with Biden not being able to do anything about it. That is why to survive this and prevent gorosnegi we have to partner with China. And unlike many who disagree with me I think that is a good idea. But will have no effect on dollar value. dollar value is being played by Arz gurus. They know where it is heading. What they are doing now is artificially bringing the value down so they position themselves. Remember in Iran ordinary people rush to buy dollar only when it is going up and nobody buys dollar when it is going down except those who know what is going on. To answer your question think average about 50,000 toman to a dollar in the next year or two and will stabilize around that number once agreement is reached. I would encourage people buying at current value. Just remember that right after original JCPOA agreement the dollar did not go down and as a matter of fact it actually went up within a year from 2800 toman to almost 3800. Like 35%. In current situation I suspect the same increase of 35% up to 50%. Buy dollar if you can at this value.
