Comments: Dear DM Thanks for dropping in on us. Th scenarios you put together are very cleverly done. My humble opinion and short answer is that any or multiple of the scenarios you described could happen. But one thing is for sure that, nothing will come out of the current scuffle but more death and destruction, as the events of ’88 proved. The current regime has enough grass roots support to withstand the upheaval. The country and the people will be the final losers and outside powers like Saudi international, BBC, VOA and their cheerleaders will be the winners in trying to weaken us. The achievements thus far, in the fields of defense, and foreign policy have been tremendous. A lot of work needs to be done on people’s rights and economy and they are achievable on time using peaceful means. If our past history is the lantern for the future, it tells us that Reza shah took the hejab off by killing around 2000 women, and that method caused more and more continued rejection and resentment amongst our religious society adding to the resistance that brought in Ayat Khomeini. This is only an opinion and not an invitation to brawl.
Comments: With Sepah being the main power (politically & financially) and knowing the fact that they have no where to run if people get what they want, bloodshed is predictable. There is no exit strategy for majority of the regime main players. They learned from Shah’s mistakes to trust any foreign country to give them refuge. They will do whatever it takes to hold on to power.
Comments: Forty-one people have died in the week-long protests that have erupted in Iran after the death in detention of a young woman accused of failing to wear the hijab, according to state television. The death toll — which the broadcaster said was “unofficial” — is higher than the figure confirmed by the authorities and state-affiliated news agencies, which reported at least 16 deaths, including nine members of the security forces, in the most violent unrest since 2019 protests over fuel prices. Iran’s president Ebrahim Raisi, speaking by phone on Saturday to the family of one of the security personnel who was killed, dismissed the demonstrations as “rioting and wickedness’‘ and said he urged the authorities to “decisively deal with those who disrupt the country’s security and peace”.
Comments: Alireza Beiranvand’s back injury seems bad enough that he will miss the game against Senegal.

Comments: Iran was able to rise to the 20th rank in the world. Following the defeat of Uruguay.

The Scenario – Next 2-4 years:
And finally,
DM...
Comments: Back to football to calm the nerves, maybe! Wales and England will be in action Monday. USA and Iran will play friendly games on Tuesday. Another performance like the one against Uruguay from Iran and poor performances from England, Wales and USA, the odd makers might change their mind. I am still not too optimistic about our chances but more than a week ago.

Comments: Come on! Stop the BS sanctions!!! How is that helping anyone? US sanctions Iran’s ‘morality police’ Biden administration sanctions police force over ‘abuse and violence’ against Iranian women and demonstrators.
Comments: I still don’t understand how this will be used on the ground without the satellite receiver! SpaceX CEO Elon Musk announced on Friday that he is activating the company’s Starlink satellite internet service in Iran after U.S. officials eased sanctions to allow the Iranian people greater access to the internet. The Treasury Department announced the policy change earlier on Friday to let companies provide additional online services as the Iranian government has cut off internet access for most of the country as protests continue nationwide.
Comments: It is true that after 40+ years, no one has been rising among the apposition groups. Not just a leader but a group or organization. On the other hand, who knew who Khomainie was 2-3 years before the revolution? Maybe bunch of other Akhunds but average people had no idea until it was broadcasted via BBC and VOA.
Comments: After the revolution, for a couple of years, Mujaheddin and Fedayee were, kind of, "in tune" with the leadership. However, Rajavi folks chose to go against, over some policies, and Fedayee got branched into Majority and Minority. Majority stayed with the "government” for a few years and Minority chose armed struggle again. Too much went on to mention here. A lot of folks are probably familiar with the rest.
Comments: Faramarz jan, this thing was supposed to be "Democratic Republic of Iran". There was no commonality, in the choice of leadership, amongst the groups fighting the regime, from MKO, Fedayee, nationalists headed by Bazargan, Sahabi to some degree Ayat Taleghani , to garden variety of Muslim organizations headed by Dr. Samiدبیرکل جنبش انقلابی مردم مسلمان ایران (جاما) , Dr. Paymon (later heading جنبش مسلمانان مبارز).However, Khomeini was, to a degree in contact with the Muslim groups with huge grass roots supports in our religious society. There’s simply too much to write about in this “forum” with differing views and opinions. |
