Workers in many industries have joined the strikes which have been gaining momentum since last week as Iran’s antigovernment protest movement has entered its second month.

On Tuesday, the workers of Haft-Tappeh Sugarcane complex in the southwestern Khuzestan province joined the strikes in oil, gas, and petrochemical sectors in southern Iran.

Workers of several phases of South Pars Gas-Condensate field, Bushehr Petrochemical Company and Hengam Petrochemical Company -- both of which operate at Asalouyeh Complex -- Abadan Petrochemical company and refinery, Mahshahr’s refinery and Pipe Mill Plant, as well as Neyriz Ghadir Steel Complex off the coasts of the Persian Gulf have been on strikes in solidarity with the protests across Iran, ignited by the death in custody of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini.

At least 100 striking employees of Assalouyeh petrochemical plant have been arrested in the past few days while many are threatened with being fired or replaced by Chinese workers if they do not break their strike.

The government has blocked access to mobile Internet to prevent videos of the strikes from being posted on social media.

Security agents have summoned many workers to force them into confessing that the strikes are because of long overdue wages, and not in support of the antigovernment and anti-hijab protests. Although it is a fact that many of the workers have not been paid for months, they have repeatedly announced that their strike is in opposition to the heavy-handed crackdown on protesters.

Faramarz jan, I have a copy of the Nasty posts. I will place them here if you like when back. The most recent one was up for 2 to 3 hours before it was deleted.
By the way I'm also for registration if that is the community's decision

Power prices jumped 51% in PJM, 85% in New England in Q1 due to rising gas prices | Utility Dive

You can search your local utilities for the increases. West coast had some of the highest rates, but East coast is catching up and some.

One has to understand that the usage in East Coast is much higher due to temp changes. Last July & Aug, my electricity bills were over $600/month.

Gas for heading during the winter should be fun as well.

Faramarz,

That is from my utility companies. I’m going solar as well.

Zinsky, is that increase here in the US? Can you point me to the article? I have been debating about solar. For me, it does not make sense yet, but with that increase, I am forced to oblige and install solar, especially that I am totally getting rid of all my gas cars and replacing them with electric ones!

Shahryar jAn, very well said. Couldn't have said it better myself. That is why I have not really for purely sports messages. We are on the same page my friend.

Faramarz JAn,

I agree with your statements below and I do favor the #1 choice.

Having said that, I would like to be able to discuss with our doostan any subject and topic that could come up, with obvious focus on Football of course. But there are times that we are low on Football news (not these days of course, with World Cup just around the corner). Also, other topics and world events come up that can be the topic of conversation, such as the protests in IRAN these days.

I would like to think that mature, intelligent people should be able to navigate through all those topics and learn from discussing them openly and without prejudice. The problem is that certain trolls (jealous folks from other areas!), do not wish to see such conversations. If we can ignore/control/delete them, then life will be good.

I have full trust on all our regulars to be very open minded and willing to discuss any topic, with Football being the main focus.
Also, I do not mind registering, if that helps achieve above goals.

64% increase in electricity rates starting on November 1 & 33% increase in natural gas rates.

We are going to feel the pain soon.

Not talking about politics is hard. Not talking about sports is stupid on football site.
Talk about anything but just use the same handle so others know what to expect.

I hope you recall the days that I post sports only, some would complain, through very rude and nasty notes, stating that "our country going through revolution and you, mother this, and wife that keeps posting sports?" No one here, has been the target of these hooligans more than I.
I have also noticed that with any expression of opinions, the democratic element of freedom of expression is thrown out the window by the very same "revolutionaries" telling me that "you are either with us or with the regime". Guess what? I don't see any difference between "you" and a dictator. History tells us that. You will not win, you will see!
Back to Iran football/sports.

Divide and conquer!

I don’t mind registering to use the site. It’s up to the admin but it could help. I might have missed the discussion with Kamkar but I have never seen anything to make me believe he has any issues with anyone.
Sport only discussions seems like a good idea but not going to work. Politic is going to be part of the conversation, no matter what. It’s unfortunately the time we live in.
I don’t care if people want to talk about anything and I don’t have to agree with them. It’s only fair to know who is doing the talking.
