Comments: As far as tax credit, it will be part of your return. I am not sure if it is when it is completed or when you pay for it. For me, it will be this year (2022 taxes).

Comments: Zinsky when I looked into this last year, it was a good two months here as well. May be three now. Am I right that the day the power is turned on is the date that government cares about. That is the date you get your tax break for. Am I right on that?

Comments: Not sure why the thinking is that if TM does not play in the world cup it will be bad for the Iranian government. I think it is the complete opposite. No football means no large gatherings.

Iran national football team will likely play Syria as part of preparation for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.Mehdi Mohammad Nabi, a member of the Iran Football Federation’s Board of Directors, had previously said Team Melli will play a warm-up match before leaving Tehran for Doha. Media reports suggest that Iran will play Syria in its last warm-up. Iran, headed by Carlos Queiroz, edged Uruguay 1-0 and drew 1-1 with Senegal in late September in a training camp in Austria.

Comments: I started mine 2 months ago. I’m told it should happen in about a month. So, about 3 months.

Comments: Interesting. What is the turn around from signing to installation?

Comments: Battery was about $16K. I said no! Still, if I produce more electricity than used, I get credit (no actual money) from the utility. I can use the credit during the times that I go over.
I am planning to change most heating devices in the house to electricity afterwards (Large space heaters/room). Use the gas only when really cold.
More than anything, I like the fact that the bill will not change drastically with the weather changes. Hopefully, I will pay nothing during the winter and save some credit for the heat of summer.
Also,
Tesla installs both solar panels and solar roof tiles. Although the company isnt exactly transparent about this on its website, it doesnt manufacture solar panels but, instead, supplies and installs them. For a while, the tech giant partnered with Panasonic to create its solar cells, but this partnership came to a close in 2019. With Panasonic out of the picture, Tesla is now working with a company called Hanwha to manufacture their solar panels.

Comments: This is really helpful. Mamnoon Zinsky. I have read quite a lot about what happens after installation to the solar panels. Turns out that most suffer in heat and so, mine will be suffering a lot more than yours. There is a huge variety on the range of reduction in efficiency because of weather fluctuation (mostly heat) in the panels. I think Hitachi was the one that lost the least amount of efficiency in heat but when I was looking into this about a year ago, I could not find a company that sold them. Everyone says their panels are the best.
Did you get a battery system as well? My friend has just bought a battery and added more panels to generate more electricity to sell to eh city. The credits that you get that way, I have not taken into my calculations.

Comments: A typical solar panel system in the U.S. is around 6 kW in size, or between 16 and 18 solar panels, depending on their wattage. A 6 kW system will generate somewhere between 720 kWh to 900 kWh per month (for reference, the average American household uses about 893 kWh of electricity monthly).

Comments: I am getting a 10KW solar system.

Comments: Faramarz,
My solar would cost me $24,000. I am getting 30% tax credit as it was approved thanks to Biden! I went with Tesla Solar after reading reviews and comparing costs.
You can finance or buy it outright. I would buy to get the credit and not pay the crazy interest on it.
If rates keep rising as I expect they do, I can recoup my investment in about 5-7 years based on my current usage and 2% increase each year (assumption that could go either way).
The only issue I have is that they assume the solar panels will work as expected for 10 years (warranty). What will happen afterwards? Do I need to replace some/all?
I assume the sharp rise in 2022 might be one off and might even correct itself but in general the rates are rising modestly every year.

Comments: Zinsky, yes the east coast uses much more electricity/gas. I am wondering how you calculated your cost/benefits for solar. My electricity cost per year is under $3K with summer months carrying close to half of that cost. And a solar system costs $25K-$30K. So, I am paying 10 years' of electricity cost all upfront to have solar. The electricity cost has already gone up here. So, unless it goes up significantly again, I can't see the benefit!
