Comments: Dead candidates win US electionsThanks to legal technicalities in some states, recently deceased lawmakers have won more than one local race Pennsylvania state Representative Tony DeLuca won his race for the state Congress in a landslide victory on Tuesday. The only problem – he died last month, leaving officials in an odd position as they prepare another election to fill the vacant seat. DeLuca is just one of multiple deceased politicians to score wins this week. While he passed away from lymphoma at the age of 85 on October 9, by that point it was too late to alter the ballot or advance a new candidate in DeLuca’s place. As Pennsylvania’s longest-serving representative, he easily prevailed over his challenger, Green Party candidate Zarah Livingston, receiving nearly 86% of the vote as counting concluded on Wednesday afternoon.

Comments: Mark Twain's eternal words: If elections changed anything, they wouldn't let us do it! The sad part is that we want to export this to other countries to save them.
Comments: I don't have much time to post today, due to work, but wanted to make a quick comment about US elections. In general I agree with Everything Faramarz and Zinsky said. The election has been, is and will be a joke in this country (watch the movie Gangs of New York). Money buys elections; people get screwed time after time; they really have no say in it. No one knows the issues, since it is all about why we should hate the other side. No issues are ever discussed. Democrats are slightly better, but at the end of the day, they are all for sale (minus a few select Democrats).

Comments: All of that is true Zinsky and I think most have been there for a long time, as you indicated intentionally. Even back in Twain's time. The system is set up so that people in power can rig it. And to that you add the least educated people on the planet, you have the result that we all see. The ruling of the selected in the name of election and democracy. Trump just made it bitterly obvious.
Comments: American elections had many issues before but year after year it has gotten worse. I think after Trump’s election, it just went south. 1/2 of the population don’t even believe in it unless they win. I personally don’t believe there are actual cheating going on but the way it is set up makes no sense. The system is flawed and easy to take advantage of. Presidency and house elections have nothing to do with popular vote. Maps are drawn to insure less compilations. Two senators per state without considering the population is just unbelievable. Tuesday elections, not a holiday, distrust and $billons spent caused low turnout and some of the most stupid people to run and get elected!

Comments: Merci for the highlights. I hope we do not suffer any more injuries. Quality bench is going really thin.
Comments: HAMVATAN, Good article. They do want they can.
Comments: Man I have to say that American elections are such a sh$t show. Time after time, it is never about people and what is better for them. It is all about tricking them to have them vote one way or the other. In the end nothing really changes. The country continues to be on sale!
