Following the loss, people poured onto streets in Iranian cities and held celebrations, chanting antigovernment slogans.

The capital Tehran and the nearby city of Karaj, Orumiyeh (Urmia) and Ardabil in the northwest, Dezful and Ahvaz in the southwestern province of Khuzestan, and northern cities of Lahijan and Rasht as well the southern city of Kish and central cities of Zanjan held gatherings, expressing satisfaction that its team failed to use the World Cup as an opportunity to promote regime propaganda. As demonstrations against the regime in Iran hit day 75, many of the protesters hope that the U.S. men's national team at the World Cup and the Biden administration can send a signal of support to the protesters.

Iran had Asian's best chance to make to to the round of 16, I don't think the other ones can do it either.

As far as the game is concerned I think CQ did not do a good job with the line up and the subs. TM spent a lot of energy in the Wales match so we needed some fresh legs. CA chose to stick with his 2 center backs and they as a whole did not have a good tournament.
He changed his LB 3 times in this game. Started with Milad then Haji and ended with Jalali. I would have liked him to bring in Amiri instead of Karimi for his first sub. Karimi has never been a game changing player. Ghodos was a bad sub too I would have brought in Karim instead. And started the game with Taremi and bring in Azmoun as a sub.
I hope this is really the end of CQ in our football. Give the team  to an Iranian coach and let's move on.

Well it wasn't to be, I am not glad we lost but I am relieved that this circus is over. This whole tournament was not fair to the players or the fans.

I truly believe the off the field issues effected the team. I think many of them just wanted to get it over with.
Much better 2nd half but not good enough.

Lackluster performance from players over all. Midfield really sucked. I suspect that the players wanted to end it here rather than dragging out the controversy in the middle of which they are bastardized. Hard to tell how much off the field stuff affected the players. But cannot be negligible.

Overall, very disappointing on the field but also off the field how many fans treated this team. Now the question is for those who wished this team to lose: How does this help your cause?
