Comments: Please predict tomorrow's Day one of the Knock-Out Stage for:
Comments: Doostan, Since we are entering the Knockout Stage of the World Cup, there is a new rule that we need to take into account for scoring. - All the old rules for Group Stage Games still apply. - However since there can be no "Draw" results for these games (we will go to extra time, and PKs, if needed); we also need to state that in our predictions. - In other words, if you are predicting a "Draw" between 2 teams, you also have to stay who wins the PKs. Doing so correctly, you will be granted an extra point. For example: you can predict Netherlands and USA will finish in a draw (say 1-1), and if this happens after extra time, you will get your maximum 6 points. But in this case, you also need to state which team will win the PKs. If you guess that correctly, that is worth an extra point for a total of 7 points.
Comments: Please predict tomorrow's Day one of the Knock-Out Stage for: Sam's predictions:
Comments: Netherland 3-0 USA Argentina 3-1 Australia
Comments: Netherland 2-1 USA Argentina 2-0 Australia
Comments: Lots of surprises this WC. Even with all that, the numbers not too surprising. 8 from Europe 3 from Asia 2 from Africa 2 from SA 1 from NA
Comments: Zinsky, I am not necessarily disagreeing with your statement regarding the state of our team. Even though I liked how performed against Wales and the last 20 minutes against USA, I believe we have some fundamental issues with our team that came from lack of preparation, both physically and mentally. The last world cup we did much better, because CQ had 8 years under his belt; this time only 2 months. The difference was obvious. I do agree we need new blood infusion, but I believe it should be under CQ's direction.
Comments: HAMVATAN, I really lost hope for TM. We do get a win here and there. We play with no consistency. It’s all due to lack of planning, lack of management and lack of care. This will not change under IRI…
Comments: Zinsky, you nailed it "under IRI". "Under IRI", is what has been killing us in all fields due to mismanagement and corruption. Look at our coaching situation since last WC. We cannot get any good prep games. Then Omid team which will have to supply and groom talent is always in disarray with a scapegoat coach picked just before Olympic qual. It goes on and on. Our teams get disqualified from AFC Champ league.... How do we expect to do better than SK, Japan, Australia, SA and even Qatar? Talent alone will not do. Gheirat is just cliché and won't get you far. This time are issues were: -IFF (IRI) incompetency with coaching selection and political power grab to run IFF. -Demoralized players for IRI portraying (with a kiss ass visit to Raisi) them in a clear stance against most of the nation's will. I felt for the players for a no win situation. -CQ had no time to bring in new blood and our team was few steps slower than England and US due to their old age. -Lack of proper facilities and infrastructure and loss of international exposure (when your top clubs are barred from AFC champions league).
Comments: Iran's Raisi visits Mahsa Amini’s home province and urges Kurds to 'thwart enemy'
Comments: Shahryar Jan, This is not me being pessimistic. I watched us play multiple times. I also watched Japan and Korea. Even Saudi and Australia played much more organized and in tuned. We truly don’t have a “team”. We can’t put 3-4 passes together. We have real talented players but not a team. This issue will not be resolved quickly. We need an overhaul. New players, new coaches, new style. Under IRI, it will not happen.
Comments: Zinsky JAn, Do not worry my friend ; we will be fine. I actually think we will perform rather nicely in the Asian Cup this time. I just hope we keep CQ at the coach. This was a huge lesson for us in humiliation and I do nt want us to forget that under a new coach.
Comments: Agha Faramarz, Please check your email for updated Score sheet :) The "evil" one struck again, lol.
Comments: At this stage with the Asian team’s performance, we are doomed in Asian cup. It might be a good idea to send a young team and try some new blood. Or even better, just sit that one out… |
