Comments: OK we are all goozpeech from the way this WC went but there is a positive side for the team and the players going forward  For the next couple of years TM and it's coach have the easiest professional life they have had in their career. Because, they know if they win 50% of the fans are happy, if they lose the other 50% are happy and if they draw 100% are happy. That's not a bad situation!
Comments: Iran would have presented a challenge because Iran also plays the same style. This would have brought the Dutch out and forced them to play a style they are not used to. I think Iran in the current conditions would have still lost because out two middle defenders and D-mids were not working. But the Iran of 2018, I think would have taken this game to PKs or even won.

Comments: Not that it matters but Iran will fall and other Asian teams will rise in the next FIFA rankings. I can see Iran move from #1 in Asia to 3 or 4.
Comments: Shahryar, what's interesting is S. Korea and Poland ranked lower than Germany and Ecuador but made it to the round of 16. Sometimes you just need to be lucky!
Comments: Thanks LOL for that stat. IRAN came one goal (one uncalled PK) from advancing, and his numbers even though not bad now, would have been a lot better. Although I do not think we could have overcome Netherland's orange wave today either.

Comments: The problem for the US is that they play as if they have the skills of Brazil. They can run, can take the ball up, but then creating real situations are rare and then on those rare moments, they do not have the skills to finish. Great example was the minute 2 one-on-one chance they had. Vali Pulesic, the big hero riiiid.
Comments: Note: RNG can still secure 4 points (no longer a 0-0 draw), if USA comes back and ties the game. He just cannot get the "bonus 7th" point by choosing the PK winner. But I agree, it will be difficult for USA to draw now, although not impossible. Maybe more players from Netherlands have to come down with a flu, lol |
