Comments: On retirement, the problem is that majority of Americans don’t have enough, if any, savings. Most realized that retirement as they dreamed is not possible. They are getting used to working into their 70s and 80s.
Comments: Faramarz, Retirement has changed as you probably know well enough. It used to be much simpler. Most people used to work 30 years or so, pay off the only home they bought right after they started working (after high school or college). By then, they usually had kids out of the house working themselves. Most worked in places that would provide some sort of retirement benefits such as government or manufacturing pensions. Social security, pension and some savings they had was good enough for them to live in the same house and live another 10-15 years and with Average age of 70sh, they would leave the rest to kids. With people living longer, moving around for various reasons, cost of living increases by much more than the income, pensions mostly gone and social security not catching up with the cost of living, people work longer and have less savings that could support the lifestyle. That was the start of downsizing or moving to cheaper areas like Florida or Arizona to retire. For most of us (people in their late 50s, early 60s) working in our 60s and 70s is not as much of of a choice but necessity. That is mainly because we want to keep the lifestyle without much compromise. I bet most of us could retire if we are willing to cut many luxuries and live a simple life. Moving to few places in America (Florida and Arizona as I mentioned are much more expensive than before but still a bargain compared to CA, NY or MA) is still an option. Southern European countries or even back home in Iran could be another option. Many are moving to Turkey as well. After my long essay above the summary is that one can retire sooner or later depending on the compromises they are willing to make. Moving, smaller homes, less luxurious lifestyle and such are the keys to retirement when desired.
Comments: We have talked about retiring in various countries. Can I ask how many of you currently work because you have to or because you want to?

Comments: I don't think there is a new nuclear 'deal'. Iran has basically finished what they started in 2021 and that is to have enough 60% enriched uranium to be able to refine to 90% and build a bomb if they decided to do so. The US has accepted this and Iran is happy to keep the status quo for now! Remember before Trump pulled out of the deal Iran was limited to 5% enrichment! The International Atomic Energy Agency said in its report that Iran has 121.6 kilograms (268 pounds) of uranium enriched up to 60%. That means its stockpile of the fuel is growing at its slowest pace since 2021. A report in May put the stockpile at just over 114 kilograms (250 pounds). It had 87.5 kilograms (192 pounds) in February.

Comments: I'll have to remember this: "Fake enemies are better than fake friends!" It is a good one and so true! In addition to the downsides that you listed, I can think of a few more: 1. IRI external recruitment in other countries will slow. This significantly jeopardizes regional operations. 2. Because of #1, external IRI operations that benefit Russia are jeoperdized 3. Because of #1, there is more of a possibility of regional alliance and friendship. This is bad for east and west 4. West's weapon sales will slow. 5. Internal mismanagement will be more apparent 6. People's demand from the government will go higher. 7. Oil prices will creep up because of tighter regional alliances. West will end up paying for this. So many more ... I think this did the soupop function well for now. What people need is irrelevant.
Comments: Faramarz, It’s a lose/lose for both sides to announce a compromise. For IRI, dealing with the “root of all evil” means they have to take responsibility for problems in Iran. For America it means the boogeyman is not as bad! It could be controlled and negotiated with. Fake enemies are better than fake friends!
Comments: That is a shame Zinsky. I was not expecting this under the table deal to take the place of an official agreement. Definitely, IMO, people are the losers. Everyone focuses on how much money IRI will get. But that is peanuts to how much trouble people are going through as a result of the sanctions. Tings like aging fleet of all commercial carriers in Iran, all the back doors that people have to go through to do financial dealings with Iran, all are major concerns. But the reality is, it is not good for the politicians on either side to strike a deal and present a path for international integration of Iran. Iran much better serves its own political agenda and that of the United States/west in a rogue role.
