Comments: Yes, I think we are getting ahead of ourselves, way ahead.  With the vultures and foreign agents firmly in charge of most people's hopes and dreams, I do not see a quick solution here.Having said that, I too would not mind retiring in Iran. For our kids though, I see it much less likely. This is probably true for most of the second generation. I think the better future Iran is mostly for the younger generation, as it should be. I am wondering whether people like Farid would consider going back. Would be interesting to know his opinion.
Comments: I, personally, wouldn’t mind retiring in Iran if Iran is Iran again. I’m not sure about my kids. I suppose it all depends on the future of Iran after 40+ years of this! There is a huge potential for Iran and Iranians under “normal” circumstances. I’m just dreaming and hoping! I’m getting way ahead of myself…
Comments: I think some people would go back. but these people would be a great minority. I would bet most of the people who are shouting the loudest (e.g. shahollAhis) would never go back because then they would have to become ordinary people. They would never want to give up the "I am better than the rest because I am amrikAyi". Then there are those who would like to go back and would if they had the opportunity, but they are so deeply in debt and commitment in this system that they cannot. This goes back to the retirement issue we were discussing and the lack of freedom of choosing what you want to do in your retirement.
Comments: I always asked myself this question! Will I go back and live in Iran if IRI falls tomorrow and we have a democratic system in place? Am I willing to take all my wealth, knowledge and experience back home and try to rebuild my country? Estimates are that some 4-5 million Iranians living abroad. Most are educated and wealthy. That is a massive resource that Iran needs but for most of us (in our 50s and 60s), it requires some sort of sacrifice. Let’s hope we have the opportunity to make that sacrifice in our lifetime.

Comments: Well said Hamvatan. And add to that a Russia that finally has Iran in its pocket and does what it tells it and a China that benefits from the cheaper oil and other resources. So, no one wants Iran to fall. Even the Arabs of the region prefer this to an independent and healthy Iran.

Comments: And in case of IRI, they are milking the "anti-US" stance to appeal and rally their base (which is shrinking quickly) to survive while selling off IRAN to fill their pockets and bring their loot to west (which US, Canada and Europe like). There is no calvary coming to rescue from outside! It is up to us to get rid of them on our term. Even Israel does not want these guys gone yet so they can justify their aggressions.
Comments: Zinsky, IMO, it is an adaptation of the old divide and concur strategy of British in foreign affairs. They need the division in ME to profit. Use Iran as lulu to sell weapons, get concessions from "allies" and justify direct military involvement. Also, profit from lower oil prices due to Iran selling its oil to others at a low price which will also effect the whole price across the market. IRI is a useful idiot for US. They do not want to see its downfall yet.

The hypocrisy is stunning. None of these guys want power or have a claim on a position. I respect all of them. And god forbid any balouchi, azari, kurd or iranian arab wanting fair treatment and fair national governance is labeled TAJZIEH TALAB.I was hesitant to go to last week's rally due to shahollahi's hijacking the event like last time. They tried but were not that successful as people (and most of the saltanat-talab crowd) have wised up and do not want to be decisive at this stage. Once IRI is gone people can decide for themselves. Even the organizers had some opposition fossils on stage who tried to invoke "Javid shah" that were politely guided towards Zan Zendegi Azadi as the slogan. And people did not follow these chants (Javid...) in the crowd when a few yelled it out.
Comments: Zinsky. I agree with your take. IMO: There will be someone who will rise from within. It will take time. I do not minimize the work of those outside of Iran. I actually see it as my duty to be vocal in the support of the struggle back home in a physical manner as much as possible (not just on social media). My wife, daughter and I have been attending the rallies to show support. Actually, Iranians outside Iran have been effective in putting IRI in a defensive and discredited position and pressuring west as much as possible. It has worked in some instances like kicking IRI out of human's right committee leadership. I agree that it helps to have an opposition leader outside that can orchestrate the overthrow of IRI by uniting all factions. RP started it by saying the right things (even not claiming for the throne) and starting the coalition was a positive mode. The trouble started when RP's shahollahi faction started taking over the coalition and labeling others with none sense and carry out the ideology of RP or nothing. RP except for some chirps was silent about all of this with his wife being a part of this effort. They have been labeled with nonsense. Massihnejad (labeled as tool of IRI) is fighting, lobbying against IRI even though she is a target of assassination. Hamed Esmailion (labeled: chapi/mojahed) has lost his family to IRI crimes and is forging ahead with his fight actively making a difference in Canada's visa policy for IRI officials and family. Comments: PER had lost the game even before it started to the reputation of the opponents players. Golmo was too timid in his line up and the players had the frightening in them from the start. This Al Nasr team was very beatable if PER had the guts to confront them just like any other team and play their 'normal' game. Ronaldo and Mane did not do jack and 2 Saudis scored their goals.
Comments: HAMVATAN™, They are many decent people back home fighting the fight and paying for it as well. One of them will rise above all and help free the country. People outside can help but in all reality, they are not going to change the regime. Worse part of it is the way Iranians outside Iran treat each other. Labeling, name calling and infighting will only help the IRI. We do need a person to unite people against the real enemy. |
