Comments: Interesting enough, back home, when we were kids, shepesh was associated to poor and dirty people. The one in Southern California were mainly spread in kids and not poor ones at all. They had to close school and cancel classes couple of times due to outbreak. There are shampoos that are used if you catch them very early but after they live there for a while, the shampoo doesn't work anymore. It is also very hard to detect them early if you don't actually look for them. It takes a while before the head inching starts (they start sucking blood) and by then it's impossible to deal with them yourself. They are small enough that could be mistaken for dirt or something in kids' hair. In addition to removing them one by one using the funny looking tool, one has to wash just about everything that might have come in contact with the infected person. All cloths, bed sheets and such need to be washed with special soap in HOT water. The 1st time is pretty scary, but we had multiple outbreaks in our area and after a while it's just a costly cleanup! |
