Zinsky, I was already complaining about inflation before I left for Paris. But the trip there was quite eyeopening.

I had stake with fries on the most expensive street in Paris (which in itself is not a cheap place), champs-élysées! Steak was very high quality meet. With a cup of coffee, it was all together 25 euros. Here, if I want that quality meet and have it at a high end place like del mar or la jolla, The meal would have easily been over $50. Twice the price! Somehow Europe has manage the inflation so much better!

And then, as you mentioned, the additional fees that they tag on here. For room service, at the Hyatt downtown Chicago, I paid $15 for delivery (which was calculated as a percentage!!!), and then there was a tip that was automatically added!! In total, I paid, $75 for a meal that was far below the steak I got in Paris in terms of quality, but I paid three times the price.

It’s scary what happened to this country after Covid. Forget about inflation. Restaurants and hotels are adding charges to everything. Since when do they charge delivery and service charges to room service?
