I do agree with Rashti that political disagreement is just a tool, a pretense, to settle personal scores and differences. It is used to smear, label, and all sorts of other neurotic behavior for personal and tribal promotion in absence of legitimacy and merit. That is all! Otherwise, I never thought that the discussions we were really about issues. In the past few years, I have been a communist, IRI supporter, a pimp, and more. A religious communist who runs a jendeh khooneh. [rofl] This is pretty spectacular achievement for one person. [biggrin]

Yes, in my book the team did better than expected. I never thought that we would get passed the quarter finals, especially if I knew that that path would have to go through Japan. But like every other dog, we had a lucky day that day combined with some heroic effort on the players part resulted in us eliminating Japan. Had Japan passed us, I have no doubt that they would have rolled right over Qatar and Jordan. They do not have such an up and down performance swing.

We did do well in the second half against Qatar as well but luck just was not on our side that day. In my book, I really appreciate what the players left on the field and all that they have to go through in between all the demands from all sides. And, this is not just two sides, government versus people. People are also hugely divided. some want a good performance for their team and some want them to lose! This is a horrible place to be as a player.

آقا زینسکی با این حرف شما با کمال احترام مخالفم:

"We all seem to be asking for the same things"

I take all the blame if that helps 😤
In all honesty, I think Iran/TM did as expected, possibly better than expected against Japan. Game against Qatar was not as bad as the score line. We did ok and lost due to couple of good/bad lucky shots.
I don’t think the ref was too biased. I’m confused on the VAR and when it is reviewed. The foul/no foul on Taremi should have been reviewed and possibly could go against us but the review could have given us the opportunity to get our head back in the game. The fact that it was not even reviewed made the team angry and frustrated and that caused the goal.
It’s all about mental resilience. With all the external pressure on the players, they can’t effort to have any mishaps.

The other thing that this weather combined with high electricity bills are bringing is that roofing companies are going through an incredible boom. In winter everyone is fixing their decades old roofs for leaks and in summer they are installing solar. There is an incredible shortage of roofing services now. I fixed three broken tiles for $2000. It took then half an hour to replace the three tiles!!! And I had to wait for a month to fit the half hour job in between some bigger jobs.

To be clear, on the record, I blame all of this on Zinsky's drinking. [biggrin]

This is funny as hell: "I’m doing the same damage here. The amount of snow in Boston has dropped drastically in the past 4 years! 😬😩😜 "[rofl]

I tell you, I have lived here for 20+ years and my impression is the same as yours. In recent years, we are getting so much more rain in winter! But unfortunately, this rain does not happen in the dry summer season and so, there is a ton more dry vegetation every summer these years. I fear for a vahshatnAk fire again in San Diego.

When it comes to politics or social issues, the popular reaction has become the extreme one. One has to be 100% on one side or another. I recall during the black life matter movement it wasn’t enough not to be racist. If you didn’t fight like hell for the movement, you were racist. The same goes with sports. Simplest example is red vs blue in our country. You had to love one side and hate the other. Even when they played some other team, you had to pray for the other team to demolish the team you were against! You couldn’t even admit that the team you had rivalry with played a decent game. It must have been the ref, the fans or something else.

Located in the northeast of the United States, the city of Boston averages nearly 50 inches of snowfall per year.
Last year was 12 inches. So far this year has been 9!

Unfortunately, for Iran & Iranians, we are a divided nation. Everyone has their own agenda and opinions. Majority are unhappy with the current regime but can’t decide what to do about it.
Look at the small group of us here and on the other site. We are at each other’s throats for years. We all seem to be asking for the same things but because of differences on how/who we are more angry at each other than the common enemy.
The scary part is that this small group are the ones you would expect to be smarter than that. These are the highly educated, highly intelligent and well traveled individuals. You can’t blame the division on the fact that they just don’t have the skills or the know how.
As long as people like us are so focused on our own beliefs and beliefs and ignore or fight others, the current system will continue.
If we truly start having a civil conversation and accept that compromise is the only way forward, we might find out that we are not that far apart. Until then, name calling, labeling and infighting is the worst enemy of progress.

Faramarz,
It seems San Diego was waiting for me to leave before becoming green!!! I lived there 20+ years and left 4 years ago. Total rainfall in the past 4 years is 3 times the amount of the amount where I lived there, combined!
I’m doing the same damage here. The amount of snow in Boston has dropped drastically in the past 4 years! 😬😩😜

You guys need a drink!!!🤣
The game is over. Players did their best but as usual, they had to fight more than just another team.
Time to move on and look for the next set of games. Being Iranian and Iranian football fan is extremely stressful.

This is why I did not think it was right to call these players bisharaf in the stadiums in front of millions watching. It was so wrong. They had nothing to do with the government. The psychological consequences we see now. BS apologies and really a scared mentality toward every game! Not knowing whether they will be a bisharaf, traitor to the islamic republic, or both.
