Casualties (civilian and military): Iran Physical damage: Iran Current economical damage: Iran and the rest of the world Future economical damages: Arab nations Reputation lost: US/Israel/Arab nations Direct cost of war (weapons): US Pain and Suffering: Everyone Conclusion: while Iran will suffer the most in human loss, infrastructure damage and in general more pain and suffering for average citizens, the Arab nations will suffer in the long term. US and Israel suffer the most as far as standing in global stage and loss of trust among others. The world economy will suffer for years to come and more people suffer around the world. Another useless war that could have been prevented!

Comments: Reza, I know from my own family that many who were cheering the war at the beginning have changed their minds completely! Also, every time you showed them posts like the one you posted, I was told they are paid actors. They believe (I can’t verify or deny it) that IRI is paying young, pretty ladies back home (the type that one wouldn’t think of IRI supporters) to post anti US propaganda. They don’t show support for IRI per se, but anti America and RP! One thing that is real is that IRI is getting very good at PR. They have turned the table on the west. Most of the world went from hating IRI to sympathizing with them, one way or another. 47 years of the west showing Iran as a backward country with crazy leaders has turned around rather quickly. Trump being fooled by Yaboo made them look bad and IRI as a victim! Who knew it was possible!!!

Comments: I was also thinking of a parallel to our game against them. I agree. We did better against them than they did against Spain. Argentinian keeper stopped something like 12 shots on target! Three slipped passed him. So, Spain had 15 great opportunities to score!!
Comments: Spain on the other hand was just unstoppable. The only team that didn’t lose to them was Cape Verde. Belgium was the only team to score a goal against them.
Comments: This was probably the worse final I have watched in over 50 years. Completely one sided with Argentina playing like Iran did against them few years back. At least Iran had 2-3 real chances against them. Spain goalie could have fallen sleep and still Argentina could not score. It was odd to watch Argentina play so poorly. I understand they had a much easier path to the final and cheated multiple times to make it to the final but still, they played like a team that had no plans other than dragging it to the penalty shootout!

Comments: There was a leak survey done in Iran by the government (it could be all BS) that shows there are 12% support for the regime (I suppose these are IRGC and people related to them plus all the government officials and their relatives or just extreme religious groups). There is also about 15% who are 100% against the regime and willing to do anything, including invasion by a foreign power, to change the regime. The remaining 73% are more like the rest of us, against the regime but not supporting the war efforts! As I mentioned, it is supposedly a survey done by the regime to determine the level of support. It could be just a BS report by BS networks in U.S. or other outlets. In my own family and friends back home there are almost zero (I say almost because they don’t mention it) supporter of the regime. There are some (not sure what percentage) who are willing to go all the way with any means to get rid of the regime. That group shrunk after months of war. The rest are against the regime but against the war as well!
Comments: I finally got a chance to watch the highlights. I did not realize that they disallowed two Spaniard goals before they finally had to accept one. And what a disgraceful performance by Argentina. When you advance through cheating, you will eventually get to a point where there is no comparison between the two teams and have to park the bus with all 11 players with the only hope being the PKs. This was not a match between the two strongest teams. Argentina probably is the 14th or 15th strongest team in the world, not the second. And then there was that fight after the game. This has never happened at a WC finals game. what a disgrace. The sense of entitlement is unbelievable!
Comments: This WC was purely a commercial event to make as much money as possible. From the number of participants to crazy ticket prices and bias towards the teams with money and power. It was stained with bad or no calls, close calls that almost always went against teams that were not favored, added commercial breaks and stupid halftime show that was only there to squeeze few minutes for even more commercials! Miss treatment of TM was probably the most outrageous thing and reversing a decision during the game after being forced by the president was the 1st of its kind. Now, they are talking about increasing the participations to 64. Eventually, it will lose its value but make more money for FIFA. FIFA knows how fans can’t kick the addiction and will show up and spend money no matter what. Welcome to new world of money football!!!

And we should organize a get together soon in Southern California, since many of us are from this area. We will greatly miss anyone who is not here or cannot attend.
