The leaked document reveals that the three four-star commanders in charge of U.S. military operations in Europe, the Pacific, and South America, as well as the Navy's top admiral, all informed Hegseth that because so many of their planes, ships, and other weapons systems have been diverted to the war in Iran, they could no longer perform their tasks if a war broke out in their part of the world. These senior officers were responding to the Aug. 14 edition of the Secretary of Defense Orders Book. As Post reporters Alex Horton and Tara Copp describe the book: The SDOB, typically produced twice monthly, outlines the worldwide availability of U.S. warships, aircraft, personnel, and weapons systems. It reflects the president's priorities for the force, which are carried out by the defense secretary. In response to that August edition, the top officers issued a comment of "non-concur." This means they no longer had the number of ships, planes, personnel, or other weapons systems that, according to the SDOB's calculations, would be needed to carry out the president's priorities in the event of a war. These priorities spell out what steps the commanders should be able to take if, say, China assaulted or blockaded Taiwan, or North Korea invaded South Korea, or Russia mounted an incursion in the Baltics, or an attack of a certain scale was mounted against Israel.

The total cost of the services I have received (at the outrages rates of United States) is at most $50K. You might say but some people get really sick and they receive more service. In the meantime, the richest country in the world (I’m just repeating what I’ve been told) has been cutting health benefits for millions while cutting taxes for the ultra rich and waisting $billions in ME fighting a stupid war. … The OBBBA is federal budget legislation signed into law by President Donald Trump in July 2025. Millions of people are expected to lose health coverage as a result of the OBBBA, due in large part to the Medicaid changes that will be implemented in 2027 and future years.2 And this is in addition to the millions of people who lost health coverage due to the sunsetting of the Marketplace subsidy enhancements at the end of 2025. Altogether, the number of uninsured people in the United States is expected to increase by about 17 million people in the next decade or so, due to the OBBBA, the expiration of the subsidy enhancements, and various new Marketplace rules.3 (The new Marketplace rules have been blocked by the courts in 2025 and again in 2026, so it’s unclear if and when they’ll take effect)
