The killing of the leader was not a very sophisticated operation with James Bond like plots. He has always lived in his house(Bayt Rahbari) located in the Shiekh Hadi neighborhood on Jomhori Eslami Ave in the heart of old Tehran. His address is known to all Iranians and all enemies of Iran. He never went into hiding even when security forces advised him. His house was not fortified nor hundreds of meters undergroud. Every saturday at 8AM he has a meeting with his top advisors which is also well known and that's exactly when he was assasinated.

BTW, he is the frist Iranian leader since Mozzafaredin Shah (1907) that died inside Iran. Mohamad Ali Shah died in Italy, Ahmad Shah in Paris and both Pahlavis also died outside of Iran.

But if you like conspiracy theories you can say he is still hiding in Venezuela or Moscow!

Kheibar Shaken means “the fortress buster”. It’s a pretty new weapon in Iran that has only been operational since 2022, and it’s quite sophisticated. It has a manoeuvrable warhead that – when in its descent phase – opens up so that about 20 submunitions come out of it, each with about 2.5 kilos (5.5 pounds) of explosives.
When it’s spread over a big area, it can cause a significant amount of destruction.
Cluster munitions are banned under an international treaty, but only if the countries themselves have signed that convention – and neither Israel nor Iran has signed.

Trump administration officials told lawmakers in a closed-door briefing that Iran’s Shahed attack drones are proving more difficult to counter than expected and that U.S. air defenses will not be able to intercept all of them, according to reporting by CNN. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Joint Chiefs Chairman General Dan Caine said the drones’ ability to fly low and slow makes them harder to detect than ballistic missiles, and one source familiar with the briefing said Hegseth and Caine attempted to downplay concerns about the drones by pointing to the stockpiling of interceptors by American allies in the Gulf.

I do agree that an inside job seems more likely than anything else. And I also believe he might be somewhere alive and well. I’m not sure if he is stupid enough to show up in public for the short time he has left. The past few years has been hidden underground and smoking opioid as much as possible. Or, he could be dead! We will never know.
The question is who wanted him gone other than millions of people, of course. Was it his son? His son is big with IRGC. Trump also said he had few people in mind but most if not all died in the 1st day or two. That could have been an inside job as well to have their choice.
Either way, this seems like a bad idea no matter what. But again, US is great at making bad decisions in Middle East!
If IRI can hold on to power for 3-6 months, IRGC will take over in a semi coup d'état which might be ok with Trump.

By the way, I think the bombing has subsided because they have run out of targets for now not because the war is over. They are waiting to see who is coming out from where.

Rashti, this comment about the post is very important:

ما مثل هم فکر میکنیم. خیلی هارو میشناسم مثل ما فکر میکنن اما از جماعتی وحشت دارن برای بیان عقیدشون چون درجا برچسب بهشون میزنن.

People are afraid of speaking out against the war for several reasons:

1. By the aggressive shAhollAhis they will be labeled tarafdAr jomhooriye eslami. The reason why Shahollahis are so rapidly hated is their smear campaign. Anyone who disagrees with them, they character assassinate.

2. All the people around them got trapped into the hype that it would be a simple war and a simple regime change to the better. Why would you disagree with this? Aren't u fed up with this regime? In a surrounding that is overwhelmingly like this, it is difficult to voice an opposition.

3. ...

Zinsky, you are on a role my friend. Here is how I react to your best post of the month:

“Trump says he must be involved in picking Iran's next leader”

He has no decorum. [rofl] He says the things that most people think, is the reason behind their actions, but never say it out loud because it is too childish to say it.

"It can only mean few things! He is crazy! He lives in his head rent free"

[biggrin][biggrin][biggrin][biggrin][biggrin][biggrin][biggrin] Regardless, this is true.

"or that was the agreement between US and IRI. Maybe as part of the agreement IRI would sacrifice the leader in exchange for something US would offer."

I think this is the case. Nothing about Khamenei's deth makes sense, if you go by the official story that the israeilis had hacked traffic cameras from 10 years ago and knew the traffic patterns, etc. This story does two things. First it hypes up israeli capabilities, something they always do to project an image of invincibility and power. The biggest thing that the 12 day war showed was how fragile Israel was.  The second thing that it does is to cover the real story of how they hit Khamenei.

IMO, this had to be an inside job, no technology, simple inside informant at a very high level-perhaps the very person who is hoping to come into power after Khamenei is gone. Nothing about the official story makes sense. After weeks of threats, Khameni hides in his usual house? Really? There was no better place, a bunker, that he could hide? The missiles had a better place to hide. They were more important to IRI!! For all we know, Khamenei was placed there (dead or alive) for the plan. Another alternative is that he may be sitting as a neighbor to Assad and the agreement is for him to never to emerge!! (I find this less likely since how could you trust someone not to emerge again ever. Why would USA agree to this?)

"Now, IRI decided to pick its own leader and Trump is not happy."

This may be true. But I am not sure how long the picked leader will survive. By the end of the story the real asset leader may emerge through a "democratic" election.

"On the other hand, he could be just crazy enough to believe IRI would call and ask for his approval! I don’t know anymore… "

I think this is a distinct possibility, the child that he is. It rhymes well with his style and all the other things he has done, like campaigning for himself for the Nobel Price. [rofl]

The thing about dealing with a kid is that you know the next words will be superficial things but never know what they will be.

Reza, the side intent is to destroy infrastructure. This is part of what Israel wants to do. Hitting the medicine factories is part of that. In the end they will say Sepah was hiding there. Reality is that a medicine factory has insufficient shelter to protect anyone. Sepah would never hide ttere.

Zinsky, could it be that Israel is actually bombing arab countries and blaming Iran for it? Saudi Arabia has already captured mosad aganets trying to bomb their facilities.

Got a phone call from Iran from wife's uncle and cousin.

Bombings have subsided.
Azadi stadium is gone
Two medicine factories were targeted which produce mainly the everyday medicines in Iran such as Acetaminophen, Antibiotics and Penicillin. They still not sure why they were targeted

We are now entering the misinformation phase of the war. Not that we had any facts to begin with but even more covert propaganda regarding who is attacking where. Rumors are spreading about who is actually bombing whom. We will never know but we can’t believe anything anymore. Too much AI generated nonsense and lies are dominating the social media and news media.

Maghsoud,
That is the question that even IRI could not answer accurately. It changes daily, maybe hourly. Based on some estimates, 3,000+ missiles and 10,000 drones before this war.

some sources say 100K in total. most of it in cheap drones. some say less. I haven't seen exact numbers.

on the other side, according to trump himself, they are nt running out but r bringing additional patriots 🤣 from places like ukraine which should make russia happy.

How many more missiles, UAVs, etc. do you guys think IRI has? Looking at the list Zinsky posted am I right thinking that they have may be 10 times more? How many launchers are left?

Same question about the other side. How many more patriots and other defensive missiles do they have? They have to cover a large area with so many countries attacked.
