Comments: Hamvatan the video you posted "اینم داستان زندگی ما" is hilarious. First I thought these were the ghiyAs sentences that KhiAbAni has said. They are very similar. :)
Comments: Market seems to be down before the open. Google did well and Alphabet seems to spent too much money for near future!
Comments: Zinsky, this may have some temporary effect on RGTI's stock. May not have any impact at all. On the long-run, this will ensure RGTI will remain in the competition. Thsi is a necessary step needed before any application can be ported to their hardware. And they are not big enough like google to do all this implementation themselves. I am sure you heard about google Willow's success in running a chemistry application some 13000 times faster. RGTI is entirely focused on hardware and this shows that they are now ready to think about some application demonstration step like Google did. On this front, I am not sure what other QC companies are doing on this front because they are all getting close to application testing. I know NVDA invested in (I think) IONQ. NVDA is feeling the heat of the competition (for tehir GPUs) from QC that is coming their way. May be NVDA is already doing this with IONQ. But overall, it is a great sign for the whole QC sector. It is evidence that the NVDA CEO was wrong about QC applicability being distances away. Their investment in IONQ and now this deal with RGTI is proof of this. So, I gather that QC is getting ready to make some big leaps.
Comments: A little over my head but kind of getting the concept! Thanks guys

Comments: From my experience in computing cluster communication, PCIe and lately CXL have been the primary link technology between GPUs/CPUs and even computing clusters. NVIDIA has started an open platform using its proprietary NVLink for this purpose. NVLink has a better throughput and latency for this application. PCIe and CXL are more suited for storage and data acquisition. NVIDIA also has joined the Ultra Ethernet forum coming up with an Ethernet standard for AI cluster connection that is deterministic (confirms data delivery) for longer distance than GPUs/CPUs in a rack. Ethernet inherently is best effort and not deterministic. The protocols on top of it (like TCP) make it deterministic but add delay. NVIDIA is making an open platform since the have a strong hold on SW stack, tools and GPUs at the moment. No money changes hand as far as I know but others joining will contribute to the development of the platform. This is my understanding.
Comments: Faramarz, I’m just trying to figure out if that is good news for RGTI or not. I assume any collaboration with NVDA is good news.

Comments: It may not necessarily be in the form of cash payment. It may be that RGTI may send some of its employees to do NVDA's work for them. Something of that sort. The firmware stack of NVDA that is designed for GPU needs to be converted to a stack for QC. This sounds like what RGTI should do but NVDA's experience is highly parallel computing makes them the better candidate to develop this. All of this is my guess. :)
Comments: Zinsky, may be you are right in that education's value is sinking in Iran and so, more people are turning to sports and arts. Have you seen how many young people are doing classical iranian music? My generation was rarely into music, especially classic!
Comments: Interesting! “Rigetti will pay Nvidia”. I thought it would be the other way around. I have no idea, so I believe you…👍
Comments: I think it means Rigetti will pay Nvidia and others to port their AI platform (software) over to the QC hardware. This is very important if these QC companies want to make any money. QC will then make GPUs obsolete. |
