Comments: Iran's best chances for medals are as usual in wrestling, weightlifting and taekwondo. Sports climbing might surprise and Iran's only gymnast has an outside chance. Greco Roman wrestling has the best chance of getting the most medals followed by Freestyle. BTW, we do have a team in this Olympics, it's the fencing Saber team and they can surprise too on a good day!

Comments: Zinsky, the contest is a good idea. I can start that if everyone is interested. I remember I was on vacation in Seattle during the 2012 London Olympics and was following our athletes' progress. I posted during that time on the Football board (it was the other Board, when it had not been taken over by morons, lol). I remember clearly that one of my posts said something like this: "... doostane aziz, I believe we are witnessing the best Olympics for Iran ever, and we will probably never see another such great results for our team during our lifetime..." I hope I am wrong about that of course, and we can match and even exceed those results. Iran participated in 9 Summer Olympics and gained 4 gold medals before that 1979 Revolution, also Iran participated in 9 Summer Olympics and it won 20 gold medals after the revolution. Freydoun Malkom, a fencer who competed in the épée event in the 1900 Summer Olympics, was the first Iranian Olympic competitor. Iranian athletes have won a total of 76 medals, all in wrestling, weightlifting, taekwondo, athletics, shooting, and karate. Iran's National Olympic Committee was founded in 1947.

This was also the most successful Olympics for the Middle East. I have not followed the athletes going to Paris. What are the expectations? I know we don’t have any team sports in this Olympics. We can have a contest to pick the number of medals for Iran. In average, Iran has collected about 6 medals per Olympic Games.
