Comments: It’s normal to become more conservative with age. People over 60 or 70 become more republican in general. These days the chances are coming faster than they can digest. People like Bill Maher are changing their tune because they can’t understand or accept many changes. The whole gender identity thing is making older people very uncomfortable. Don’t get me wrong, I’m very confused about this myself. I don’t care what people do or feel but trying to stay up to date on what I can say or not is difficult.
With all that said, for me, the biggest issue is pushing religion into politics. Anytime, anyone, talks about this should not be allowed because of religion, I go crazy. I don’t care what people do, say or feel. I think those are personal beliefs and decisions. Government should have no say about stuff like that.

Turkey threatens to ‘enter’ Israel to protect PalestiniansTurkey “must be very strong so that Israel can’t do these ridiculous things to Palestine,” the president said.
Turkey’s leader is threatening to send the NATO heavyweight's troops into Israel to intervene on behalf of Palestinians in an escalation of rhetoric that raises fears of wider regional conflict. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan told a meeting of his ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) in the northeastern city of Rize on the Black Sea that Turkey “must be very strong so that Israel can't do these ridiculous things to Palestine.” “Just like we entered Karabakh, just like we entered Libya, we will do [something] similar exactly to them," Erdoğan said.

Comments: Agha Faramarz thank you. I am now worried. I am heading there in September. But will be there only two weeks. Do you think I should start the application for the new kaart melli now from here?

Comments: Who is against this??? Really!
President Joe Biden has unveiled his plans to overhaul the Supreme Court including term limits for justices, a binding ethics code and no immunity for former presidents for crimes committed while in office – in response to a string of controversial rulings and scandals plaguing the powerful, conservative-heavy court.
The president released his three-pronged proposal on Monday morning, saying that the “bold plan” is necessary to “restore trust and accountability” in the nation’s highest court at a time when it is “mired in a crisis of ethics”. In the proposal, Biden calls for term limits on Supreme Court justices – putting forward a system where the president would appoint a justice every two years to spend 18 years on the court. Biden points out that Congress approved term limits for the presidency over 75 years ago but that nothing similar exists for the most powerful court in the nation. The second proposal is for a “common sense” binding, enforceable code of conduct and ethics rules where justices must disclose gifts, refrain from public political activity, and recuse themselves from cases where they or their spouses have financial or other conflicts of interest.

Comments: Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has threatened he might send forces into Israel as he accused Benjamin Netanyahu 's regime of doing 'ridiculous things to Palestine'. He said on Sunday his country might enter Israel as it had done in Libya and Nagorno-Karabakh, though stopped short of spelling out what sort of intervention he was suggesting.
It's all Biden's fault!!!

Comments: I’m not sure if it’s just mistakes or someone is having fun but Olympics announcers are calling countries different names and not just different, calling them the worst they can.
They announced Iran, Israel and North Korea, South Korea!

Keep us in the loop. Let us know what is happening in Iran. I’m headed back in few months.

Comments: A heads up for anyone who is headed this way, without a new KArte Melli, you cannot do anything. You either have to count on half a day to two days (depending on your case) to apply for the new card + a week for it to get activated before you can do anything. Beware!
For me this is much longer because this week's working days are either completely or partially closed down.

Comments: Because of the extreme heat people hide inside until about 7 or 8 but then they go out in masses. Enormous traffic jams are created late at night from 9pm all the way until midnight. Many go to the many shopping centers because they need stuff and they are well air conditioned.
As far as abundance, everything is available, but at a price. Prices are very high for the local wages but somehow people manage to afford it! iPhones are the thing to poz with but are very expensive. And older iPhone costs about three month salary of an office worker.
Salaries are higher than the last time I was here and usually hover around $200/month for a government worker.
Luxury items are surprisingly abundant ranging from luxury mobile phones to luxury cars and luxury apartments at very high prices. Their prices are generally even higher that their prices in the US. But still there seem to be customers for them. Luxury apartments have sprawled all over Tehran at very high prices in par with or even higher than La Jolla in San Diego!!
Perplexing economy for sure!
