JERUSALEM (Reuters) -The armed wings of Hamas and Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility on Monday for a bomb blast near a synagogue in Tel Aviv that Israeli police and the Shin Bet intelligence agency described as a terrorist attack.

Oh boy!!!

In Israel, there is a huge panic after a drone infiltrated northern Israel and captured footage of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's home. Reports suggest that Hezbollah may have sent the drone. The Israeli Prime Minister usually spends weekends at his private residence in Caesarea, 37 km south of Haifa. According to reports, an Israeli Navy missile ship detected the drone hovering in that area. Given the ongoing threat from Hezbollah and other terrorist groups, many believe Hezbollah might be behind this incident.

Betting markets
Political prediction markets, which allow people to buy and sell shares in a predicted election outcome at prices that fluctuate, have grown in popularity over the years and have proven a somewhat reliable indicator of which way the winds are shifting.
As of Aug. 19, 6:00 a.m. ET, Polymarket, one of the largest such betting sites, puts the odds of a Harris victory at 51% (one can currently bet 51.1 cents to receive $1 should she win), while it puts the odds of a Trump victory at 47% (one can bet 47.1 cents to receive $1 should he win). PredictIt, another market, currently sells shares in a Harris victory for 56 cents, while shares in a Trump victory are 46 cents.

Obama tried to open relationships with Cuba and Iran. He realized that 40 & 50 years of sanctions, fight, name calling and such has not worked. He and rest of the world came up with a deal to stop Iran from making a nuclear weapon.
Trump decided he would undo anything Obama has done. Iran’s deal was the easiest one.
The question is how it helped anyone. Max pressure, thousands of sanctions, assassination and other things has only got closer to the weapon. If the world is right and Iran has either already built a bomb or very close to it, Middle East will be even more messed up than now.

Trump has a talent to read the room. I have to give him that.
Donald Trump tried to reset his campaign at a rally in battleground Pennsylvania on Saturday as polls show Kamala Harris pulling ahead in key swing states.
But the former president quickly broke away from the prepared speech about economic issues to launch personal attacks on Harris including accusations that her agenda is both communist and fascist, and that she has “the laugh of a crazy person”.
After he started talking about economy and tried to follow the prepared speech, people started to leave the rally. He quickly realized his supporters are not there to listen to solutions or policies. They only show up to watch him act like a jackass. The more obnoxious he gets, the happier his supporters.

Isn’t funny when you hear Columbus “discovered” America!
What does it mean to discover something or somewhere? Shouldn’t it be undiscovered before? Someone else “discovered” the land thousands of years ago! I suppose white Europeans don’t consider others humans!

Anyone watched Fareed's show?

Opinion America’s failed approach to Iran can’t really be called a strategy

The idea of ‘maximum pressure’ has backfired, adding to instability in the Middle East.

The Middle East is today as close to a broad regional war as it has been in decades. There are many explanations for this tense reality, but one force casts a shadow over all of them: Iran. Iran has decided that it has more to gain than to lose by pursuing an aggressive policy directed against Washington and its allies in the region. This new and dangerous reality results from one factor above all: the collapse of any coherent U.S. policy toward Iran.

Consider the failure of Washington’s current approach. Since President Donald Trump pulled out of the Iran nuclear deal in May 2018, U.S. policy toward Iran has been one of “maximum pressure.” The number of sanctions against Iran rose from 370 under Barack Obama to more than 1,500 during the Trump administration, making the country the most sanctioned on the planet. While the other partners in the nuclear-deal negotiations — European powers, Russia and China — objected, the United States used secondary sanctions to effectively block them from trading much with Tehran. The Biden administration has mostly continued the Trump policy, with a few modifications and relaxations.

And what has been the result of the Trump-Biden policy of maximum pressure? Freed from the constraints of the nuclear deal, Iran has massively advanced its nuclear program. It now has 30 times more enriched uranium than the deal allowed, according to the International Atomic Energy Agency. The deal created a year-long “breakout time,” the period necessary to produce the nuclear fuel needed for a weapon. Last month, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Tehran was one to two weeks away from breakout capacity.
