You can’t miss and hit this place! Received report says a U.S.-Israeli strike hit the protected perimeter of Falak-ol-Aflak Castle, damaging cultural buildings and museums in Khorramabad. The report says the Lorestan Cultural Heritage Department building was destroyed, and parts of the Archaeology Museum and Anthropology Museum inside the castle complex suffered serious damage. Other historic buildings around the complex, including the barracks and officers’ club, were also damaged by blast effects. Falak-ol-Aflak (also known historically as Shapur Khast) is a massive hilltop fortress in the center of Khorramabad, built in the Sasanian era (224–651 CE). That makes it roughly 1,400 to 1,800 years old, older than most countries’ modern histories. It was designed to dominate the city from above and control the routes through the Zagros Mountains, so it mattered strategically for centuries. For generations, it was a real seat of power, a military and administrative citadel, and in modern times it was also used as a prison, including for political detainees. Today it houses major museums inside the complex, including an Archaeology Museum and an Anthropology (Ethnology) Museum, meaning an attack that damages this site is not just hitting stone walls. It is damaging Iran’s recorded history and the cultural institutions that preserve it. This site had the Blue Shield emblem displayed, the internationally recognized marker used to protect cultural heritage during war. Comments: Reza, I know Iran's pharmaceutical industry well. They do not have much of an R&D because of the sanctions. But they are great in producing any molecule you want and design a therapeutic delivery strategy once the drug is identified. These factories provided a lot of medicine that would have been difficult to import with sanctions.
