We didn’t go to Zanjan during winter much. It was very cold based on my one trip I remember.
My dad used to talk about it and once mentioned that he would stop at the corner shop, buy hot LABOO, wrap it in newspaper and use it as earmuffs while walking to school. 🤣🤣🤣

:) :) Zinsky, we did that all the time in Tabriz. One year, it had snowed all the way to the windows which were about a meter and a half above ground level. We would stand in the window and pee from there into the yard. [rofl]

I think Zanjan is also very very cold. It is in a wide open space where always wind picked up on our way to Tabriz. Always was very cold. The last time I drove from Tehran to Tabriz was a few years ago and we stopped in Zanjan for lunch. It is at a perfect spot between Tehran and Tabriz. There was a restaurant that I remembered from my childhood right at the beginning of the town. It was still there and the chelokabab was still fantastic. Great memories there.

I used to Zanjan almost every summer. Once we went during the winter. I can’t remember exactly which year but it was at least couple of years before revolution. Overnight, it snowed about 1.5 to 2 meters. As a kid, I could not get out of the house until they cleared a path. I loved it but I’m sure parents were not happy. Oh by the way, the only bathroom was on the other side of the yard. No way we could go there. I assume for a day or two we used the snow as the bathroom.

In Tabriz, we regularly had temperatures below zero where win chil factor would place us in the -10 to -20 degrees celcius. About every other year, we would have snow in Norouz. You do not see that now a days.
