I have to agree with Reza on this one. How does change of ownership of the Panama canal introduce new routes?

As far as the northern corridor, ignoring the fact that this would destroy the last untouched place on earth, isn't it a pipe dream to think that Canada would give itself up to the US? :) Or Denmark agree to sell Greenland? [rofl]

And most importantly, how is any of this going to stop China from taking over the world economy from the hands of US? This is where US' attention should be rather than pissing off allies by aggressive posturing against them. Or is our hidden agenda to create cheaper routes for China to ship its products? This is where everyone's prediction of Trump destroying America comes to reality.

I think this is all random Trump BS and a distraction from facts like Ukraine and UAE buying US policy through Musk's and Trump's pockets. IMO these stories will continue for four years without any results other than public distraction.

Observer that is the upcoming Northwest Passage and battle for control of Arctic.  We are part of the Five Eyes intelligence alliance and the buzz here is that the new game is Arctic supremacy as the climate change provided a natural Northwest passage. Northwest passage and control of it which connects US and Canada’s West coast to Europe is also on the agenda of China and Russia and lots happening there. The argument is that Canada does not consider the newly formed passage as international waters and considers it Canadian territorial waters and they want to levy charges on other countries.  It looks like Western Alliance have been planning this since 2012 and the aim is to have this new shipping route operational before 2030 but there are lots of challenges especially environmental.

n how is the panama canal changing hands from panama to us is going to do "the new alternative shipping routes"?

n how is all this going to justify investment in shipping and cargo stocks?

TBH I think the next four years will be filled with bullshit like this to keep numb skulls busy so they do not ask too many questions.

The article is hugely misleading. People in Iran say "May Carter rot in hell" not because of the sanctions but because of his role in taking Shah down and bringing a gang of terror to lead iran. WTF

The way I understood it is that the shipping and cargo industry is beginning to transform and that is why we are hearing the USA interests in Canada Panama and Greenland and it is a very serious interest. The US has been involved seriously on all these three geographies since Obama time if you recall. Why because losing control of Greenland Canada and Panama will have existential threat to USA and Western World. The threat is not immediately to you and I here but really in a decade or two which will have significant impact on our children and their lives. With the new alternative shipping routes explored by the USA, significant number of new cargo and transportation ships, new machineries including ice crushing escort ships being developed by the USA, Norway, Canada, Denmark, and the Netherlands. The future of shipping routes will change as Suez and Panama canals can no longer handle global shipping efficiently and cost effectively.
Panama Canal experienced a severe water shortage due to a bad drought causing the Panama Canal to restrict the number and even size of ships allowed to pass through the canal, creating disruptions in global shipping as water levels in the main Lake which is the primary water source for the canal dropped to historically low levels. Almost all countries had significant economical losses and many cargo ships ended up wasting cargo containers filled with perishable.
We have a great opportunity in our hands here in the USA to make a major revolution in shipping industry. That is the way I understood it. Even though this was our strategic plan in the past two decades, we were always quiet about it before but now with the new administration we hear a lot about Canada and Greenland.
