US President Donald Trump's response to the recent Washington DC plane crash has attracted criticism for being "cold", as he pinned the blame on those with disabilities as he lashed out at DEI policies.

Most recently, he was asked about whether he would visit the grounds upon which the tragic incident took place, to which he responded: "The water? I'm not going to go swimming."

As a result of these harsh responses, many have looked to the past to see Barack Obama's response in a similarly awful situation during his time as US President, with major differences being highlighted by people on social media.

Back in 2009, Obama spoke about the Continental Airlines crash that resulted in the deaths of 49 people. He said: "Before I begin, I want to say a brief word about the terrible tragedy that took place outside of Buffalo last night. My thoughts and prayers are with the family's and friends who lost loved ones. As always, our thanks go out to the brave first responders who saved people lives and work to keep people safe."

A clip on X, which has been liked 50,000 times, read: "Here's a clip from 2009, when President Obama spoke about the Continental Airlines crash -- the LAST time we had an airline crash with fatalities in America. He didn't blame Bush. He didn't blame Reagan. He was just consoled America. A REAL Commander in Chief."
