Comments: I think it is the other way around. Russia is gaining on the ground and probably by end of summer will secure all of donbas region. The problem is that the europeans are supplying Ukraine with drones and they hit civilian infrastructure. So, I think Russia will push on the ground but to keep public opinion in support of the war, it has to stop the Drone attacks. There is also a school of thought that Europeans now believe that Russia will not use nukes. So, there is pressure on Putin to reestablish deterrence. so, the suggested course of action is that Russia hit those three countries with a stern warning that the next step will be the nukes so to keep the europeans out of this war. Russia will then finish off Ukraine on the ground as far as the occupied territories are concerned.

Comments: This war in Ukraine might very easily get out of hand with attacks on other European countries and eventually an atomic strike. Russia is losing too many soldiers and can’t keep up the pace forever. They will not accept defeat either. It also has close ties with Iran war.
