Comments: On the national front, from one end, they have fired hundreds of thousands of federal workers while handing down all sorts of additional rules and regulations to add to all agencies' workload. I think the intent is to slow the federal government down to a crawl so that at the end of the fiscal year (Sep 30), there is a whole lot of money left over which would have to be returned to the government. There is nowhere that this is more obvious than NIH. Their new no foreign awards has caused such a chaos in all academic institutions. All projects with a foreign component are on a halt now. They have said that if you remove your foreign component, you will get your funding. But when you ask how do I report the removal of the foreign component, they say there have been no instructions on this and so, cannot be done! Most of the biomedical research in this country has come to a grinding halt now.
