Comments: One thing that I would like to mention is that coming out of the embassy was a sad scene of 7 people standing up a demonstration putting up pictures of dead people or about to die. The message itself was sad but the fact that only 7 people show up to these things is even worse.

Comments: There are almost daily warnings that water will run out completely in Tehran in few days/weeks. It’s a horrifying situation and there are no solutions offered. Government is asking for conservation which is reasonable but not a solution. There are numbers that show that nearly 20% of the water used in Tehran is being wasted by leaky underground pipes. Another 40-45% are used for non residential purposes (farms, factories, commercial, …). Less than 20% are used by residents of Tehran in their homes. Bringing the last 20% to even 15% will only help the situation by weeks/months at best. There has been zero rain in almost 4 months. Water reserves are down by 80%. Trees alongside the streets of Tehran are dying due to heat and drought. Another proposal is to move the capital from Tehran to somewhere closer to Persian gulf. Not a quick solution! 100 gallon tanks are being sold for residential buildings to store water while they are planning to cut water for 8 hours a day during summer and fall seasons. Not much can be done as far as environmental impact. The whole country is dealing with little to no rain. Mismanagement and sanctions are the main factors behind the aging infrastructure. Overall, this situation is not going to get better anytime soon. Even if with some luck, rain and snow comes back this fall and winter, it will only be a temporary fix.
