Comments: Took a vacation without worrying about the job!!! Back from Italy and keep asking myself, why am I here??? Kids are the main reason but in all honesty, they are not kids anymore.
Comments: Faramarz, As you already mentioned, these are all distractions that are necessary to avoid talking about real problems. Flood the airwaves with BS proposals and executive orders. Not a single day without some sort of a crazy idea to enrage half of the population while keeping the rest confused. No one cares for the long term consequences. For now just keep people busy. Create fear and anxiety. Short term popularity gains while long term pain for the country as a whole. Make America Great again!

Comments: This is going to simply kill some fields of advanced R&D and give China a chance to catch up. The sad part is that like all other shit show that this administration is creating is not the real intent. It is all a smoke screen to cover some of the bullshit that they and their allies are doing. They fully know that that US does not work without the foreign force. And those unqualified individuals in the administration will also quickly learn from the bitching of the industry. Then everything will be reinstated or an alternative path is created. The problem is that in during the temporary shit show, the damage will be done and many groups will become disabled for months and years. My group is a good example. I now have funding but do not have the people to do the work. So, I have to go through the rehiring process which was just made even more difficult by chasing all the foreign talent away. We spent two years looking for qualified people for three positions. Ended up hiring one Postdoctoral Fellow from India, one from Mexico, and a third who is a US citizen but born to Mexican parents who came to the US illegally and then became citizens. This last one fount a job at Dartmouth College and left because of our funding uncertainty. The other two went back to their respective countries. They were the most qualified candidates we could find in a two-year search.
Comments: This is overall which includes people with high school degrees and those with a BS degree. At the PhD level, this percentage is closer to 70% in many fields (like engineering) which is largely made up of people who at some point were H1B visa holders.

Comments: Again, this does not include all the economy generated by american workers that used the help of a foreign-born worker to make things happen.
Comments: Just a few pieces of information from the government's own training that I just had to take a few days ago because of the funding that I recently received. Important here is that this is only those patents that were entirely done by the foreign-born scientists and engineers. In the process of developing new IP if a team is involved and not all are foreign-born, these people are commonly marginalized and their intellectual contributions are marginalized. This results either leaving them out as authors of the patent entirely or having them a far smaller portion of the patent assigned to them and most of the credit given to the US-born scientists. Neither of these two groups which combine to a much bigger group than the 40% are counted in the 40%. The true percentage of patents that could not have been developed without the help of a foreign born scientist or engineer is closer to 80%. ![]()
Comments: This is unbelievable. I knew that Shah collaborated with the US and the west but its extent is really upsetting. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DM3gjElogmh/ No wonder they disposed of him so easily. He was entirely a puppet!
Comments: I am in the middle of applying for an H1B for a staff scientist from India. This will put a hold on that process. There is no way that I can afford $100K! WTF! This is going to kill the H1B program. And those scientists and engineers cannot be replaced in USA. Americans are far too lazy to go through a rigorous PhD program and educate themselves to that level. Most bail out after the BA and the rest after a rare MS. Very few trickle through to the PhD education.

Comments: Panic, confusion and then a hasty White House climbdown - it was a weekend of whiplash for hundreds of thousands of Indians on H-1B visas. On Friday, US President Donald Trump stunned the tech world by announcing an up to 50-fold hike in the cost of skilled worker permits - to $100,000. Chaos followed: Silicon Valley firms urged staff not to travel outside the country, overseas workers scrambled for flights, and immigration lawyers worked overtime to decode the order.
Comments: Relaxing vibe by Sina Bathaie. Bathaie learned the santur from his father, Master Javad Bathaie, at age seven and studied the oud and Persian classical repertoire.

Comments: Dollar jumped after the news. It’s about 107K. The vote at the UNSC on Friday means the “snapback” sanctions could take effect as early as next Sunday. These would include the reimposition of an arms embargo against Iran, a ban on uranium enrichment and reprocessing, a ban on activities with ballistic missiles, and a punishing global asset freeze as well as travel bans on Iranian individuals and entities.

Comments: Jamal Lewis is currently not in Iran, despite reports of Persepolis' interest in the former Newcastle defender, as he failed medical tests for the club due to a left ankle injury and his transfer is now unlikely. As of September 2025, the Northern Ireland international was reportedly being monitored by the Iranian football team Persepolis, but this move was complicated by his injury and the failure of his medical tests. What we know: Persepolis' Interest: Iranian football team Persepolis was reportedly looking to sign Jamal Lewis as a left-back. Injury: Lewis suffered a left ankle injury, leading to the failure of medical tests conducted in the UAE. Transfer Status: Due to the injury and failed medical, a transfer to Persepolis is now unlikely. Recent Move: Lewis most recently played for Brazilian side São Paulo and was also a former player for Norwich City and Newcastle.
