Comments: Keefer jAn, I looked up the institute that had done the study because this sort of study can be rigged or performed incompletely and end up with incorrect results. The institute is a legitimate one in Italy and so, presumably has no connections with Russia. The results are promising for the Russian vaccine. Although results like that has been published by Pfizer before as well only to see that they are meaningless. Pfizer did their study in vitro to see how the serum levels increase with their vaccine. They concluded that their vaccine was 95% effective against the Omicron based on the serum levels, but later they announced that their vaccine was only 30% effective in preventing getting the disease and as a result the CDC reduced the timeline for the Pfizer booster from 6 to 5 months. So, there are many different varieties of these studies with results that later turn out to be incorrect. Having said all this, this is a huge step in international acceptance of the Russian vaccine. I have not kept up with the news about the vaccine,but WHO has its own investigation and if they have accepted the Sputnik as an effective vaccine against SARS-CoV-2, then the vaccine is for real. I will have to check on this. |
