بنا بر ادعای سنگالیها به نقل از سایت wiwsport، دو تیم ملی اروگوئه و ایران به شدت خواهان برگزاری دیدار دوستانه با تیم ملی این کشور آفریقایی هستند. اروگوئه در گروه H رقابتها با تیمهای غنا، پرتغال و کره جنوبی همگروه شده است و تیم ملی ایران نیز در گروه B با تیمهای انگلیس، آمریکا و برنده پلی آف اروپا باید رقابت بپردازد. همچنین سایت stuff نیوزیلند نیز خبر داد که تیم ملی نیوزیلند که باید در پلی آف انتخابی جام جهانی به مصاف کاستاریکا برود قرار است یک دیدار دوستانه با استرالیا داشته باشد و در ادامه نیز صحبتهایی درباره دیدار دوستانه با ایران وجود داشته است که این دیدار هنوز قطعی نیست.
