Comments: In 1998's game versus USA; it was glaringly obvious that the referee was on USA's side. There wee two very obvious calls against IRAN, that no other referee would have made. One was the no-call penalty on Azizi; had that been called, USA would have been blown away. The other was the completely unnecessary yellow card to Estili, as he was "running" to go out of the field and be replaced. That was a call that a "USA fan" would have made, being worried about his team running out of time and not a referee call. The referee was obviously biased and should have been fired from their association immediately. I thought the game was clearly in favor of IRAN. The bad calls put IRAN on their heals and they had to be more careful not to give that biased referee to give them another yellow or red card.
Comments: You're welcome Agha Faramarz. I really wished that he got involved with Iranian football again. Either TM or Perspolis. Yahya doesn't look much interested in the job anymore.
Comments: Faramarz jan. I agree with your assessment on Iran vs. US game of WC98. The game was very close to go the other way. Thankfully luck was with us! I like a re-run of the luck part this time around also, since we don'thave a very capable coach.

Comments: Shahryar, I agree with all your suggestions. However the friendlies with the Scott and Wells are gonna have to wait until this fall.
Comments: In regards to which teams make the most sense for us to have friendlies against I agree with you that Canada is a critical one. Here are my "realistic" wish list: 1- For England Preparation: Since English play roughly the same style as Wales and to some extend Scotland, I would like to play either of the last two teams in a friendly; the one whom does not qualify. Let's assume Wales Qualifies: in that case, I would like to play Scotland; 2- For Wales Preparation (see above): Another English channel team such as Ireland would be great for TM; Ireland; 3- For USA Preparation; as mentioned earlier, Canada would be great. I can also think of Mexico as a good preparatory game for us, and they may want to play us as well since they are in a group with Arabia. So, Canada and Mexico; If we can play the 4 mentioned above, we would be in a very good shape.

Comments: I think one of the things that will change (at least in the US national team) in the next few months is the level of education about Iran. While many BS commentators will continue to underestimate us, the managers of the US team will not. So, I am not sure that we can count on the element of surprise. We need to legitimately beat the US team with planning and strategy. Comments: I want to remind us that the game against US went as well as it could in the luck category. But we were awfully close to losing that game. Had that happened, we would have lost by 3 or more. We really do not want to repeat that experience. JT had not clue how to manage that game or any other game and I fear that we will see someone like that at the helm this time around as well.

Comments: Once again, this is very talented Iranian team, specially in offense. We could score against any team but defensively, we are not as good as last time. Middle is another problem for us. We have decent players but with little to no friendly games planned and no real game plans, we will be pushed hard in every game. Believe it or not, we might do semi decent against England. It will be a 80-20 ball position in favor of England but with some luck, we might get one or two opportunities to score. Overall, management in Iran has not shown willingness to help the team. I don’t see it coming either.
