Comments: Faramarz jan, I have inside info on what happened in WC98 and the events leading to Ivic's dismissal. Mr. AmirAssefi (RIP-He was a very close friend of my dad, a TM player of Jedikar/Fekri era. He was PP and Ararat coach in Takhte Jamshid leagues.) was selected by Farahani (IFF Chief) to be the manager of TM and help Ivic with preparation. He set up the camp in Brojerd (great climate for training not like Qatar in summer that these idiots went for sight seeing) in an existing facility that used to be school. I saw it a few years later. They had created a nice camp with little expenditure and away from hashieh. Upgraded the rooms to living and training facilities and in the middle the had a nice field to conduct training. Ivic was doing a great job and was not being bothered since Farahani and AmirAssefi were shielding him from usual suspects (dalals and useless characters in football -read MK, Mostafavi, ...). Then close to WC, TB pushes JT to be modir fani. Farahani had no choice but to accept. But AmirAssefi read it all the way that they were starting to undercut Ivic. He quit right then. I heard these from the man himself. He said what are the qualifications of JT to provide feedback and manage Ivic technically. At the time Ivic was already a top coach in the world. They will not bring CQ. The first one he will kick out is Stili. Stili va shoraka are creating this division to get rid of Skovic to bring their own vatani coach or give ultimatum to Skovic to be fully obedient. They already got rid of Bagheri since he is a not a pushover and does not stand for nonsense. We may see MK or GN. I don't think NN and Golmo will even accept. Daei will definitely not accept. I can give you a first hand impression of Stili: A complete ASSHOLE! ![]() Before Iran-US game at Rose Bowl after WC1998, our group made a stop at the hotel they were staying all of the players were mingling with fans and signing autographs and were very courteous and humble. Stili and Sattar Hamedani came out together. Sattar did the same as others but Stili was mocking and making fun of the fans "as if he fell from elephant's ass". Sattar was annoyed with Stili's behavior. Very arrogant and pure asshole! In fact, our group talked in length with Sattar and at the end we sked if he would like to go to dinner with us after the game. He accepted and was a joy and a playful guy. We did not extend the offer to Stili! ![]() After the game we went to their hotel and took Sattar to Rafi in Glendale and he had a blast. He was accommodating all fans.

Comments: Reading the messages here about TM I can tell you that my IQ is much higher than those who frequent this page.
Comments: What is different between now and '98 is that back in '98 the under performing players staged a coupe. The complaints started by saying that Ivic's training was too hard. He did not allow them to see their GF's/wives. :) Ivic's credibility or merit was not under the question. Now, it is the stars (Taremi, JB, etc.) that are questioning the credibility of the coach and r doing this in the open. There are also a bunch of players who also question the coach but r quiet, like Beiranvand, etc. This is much worse.
Comments: Zereshk R u an average Iranian or r u in line with Azizi or may be even higher?
Comments: Hard to tell but from what Keefer posted, I am guessing the decision to can Skocic is already made. What remains is who will replace him and when. Indecision and bAnd bAzi could lead this to become another JT style crap out a week before the games. Back then, we had Ivic doing a really great job of preparing the team in Sanandaj. Do hey handed is well trained TM to JT. This time, whoever takes over, if it happens a week before, will have a real crap on their hands. In those conditions, even the likes of NN and GolMo may refuse and then our choices will be limited to the worst of the worst like JT.
Comments: The spokesperson for IFF, Ehsan Osoli, says: There is no decision to change the head coach. No conversation has taken place. Not Branko, not Ali Daei, Nekonam, and not CQ. We haven't reached a conclusion about the change, so that a name can be mentioned.
Comments: Now they've done it! The big cheese has spoken. I hope we don't sanction individual players. We need all the pieces for the final show.
Comments: Unfortunately, the division in TM will widen further if not stopped. Could this task be done by either of the two foreign coaches under discussion? Afterall we might be better off with a vatani coach(s) to come things down before the big dance. That said, even the local lads have tendencies that attracts only one or the other.
Comments: Azizi is one the smartest players TM has ever had. His IQ is well above the average Iranian. And a great Mafia player.
Comments: Zeresk, what do you think of Azizi?
Comments: I don't actually expect much from the TM in Qatar. The players we have could, if played well and in harmony earn a couple of wins and they can do that with anyone, even my grandmother with a stick chasing them. If these players are not united in this, they won't achieve much beyond a couple of draws even with the best coaches they can find. So those who want CQ back they won't get anything at the WC and let me predict what they will all say right now if CQ gets in: "Oh he didn't have enough time with TM and with only one camp of two weeks and no good friendlies, it was obvious our beloved CQ couldn't do well" https://www.varzesh3.com/news/1832617/%D8%AC%D9%86%DA%AF-%D8%A7%D8%B3%D8%AA%D9%88%D8%B1%DB%8C-%D8%AF%D8%B1-%D8%A7%D8%B1%D8%AF%D9%88%DA%AF%D8%A7%D9%87-%D8%AA%DB%8C%D9%85-%D9%85%D9%84%DB%8C

Comments: Damet garm Keefer jAn, kheili hAl dAd. He looks like George Clooney a bit.
Comments: Keefer jAn, I think Daei will not be offered the job and even if he were, you are right. Most likely, he would refuse it. But I think GolMo and NN would agree. A functioning IFF would be talking to all these candidates to assess the viability. We can hope that they are doing that right now. But what I think is happening instead is that each of these coaches have their own band wagon who r rather lobbying IFF to hire their people. I am also sure that these three are not the only ones. Even Skocic has his bandwagon. The screwy Aziz is on that one. :) And there are other lobbies going on as well. Lobby, anywhere, invites corruption and so, we just have to wait and see what comes out of the process.
