Keefer Jan, just don’t forget that it was Russia (USSR) where current Putin was connected to who supplied Saddam with Migs and chemical weapons  to be used against Iran and Iranians, and it was Israel who supplied weapons through back channels to Iran to (Yes, to ensure Iraq does not become the big power of the region). These are well documented. Establishment of a strong military?! Let’s get real. Reality is it is all sub-par Russian North Korean technology, their pride right now is the Pride automobile.  Let’s just be a little realistic and not idealistic about fending off US so that our people are not suffering as a result. Look at the country who could supposedly do it. Russia. I have never seen Russia so isolated, weak, and desperate that even Erdogan embarrasses Putin in Iran.  Iran is going in a very wrong direction. Has been doing that the past 43 years, and our people paid heavy prize for it, and now towards a very catastrophic direction, which will be a catastrophe for the people of Iran.  Remember you are not dealing with bunch of anti imperialism bunch. People in charge are after filling their own pocket and only their pocket. And Putin knows this well.

When it comes to Iran's predicament in the world stage, sadly there is a lot of wishful thinking on how Iran should conduct itself and be relevant as a big power who can go toe to toe with the real big powers. We got to be realistic. We can not do what the USA does internationally. They have a deep pocket, we don't. Look at the difference of lifestyle among the two nations. I hate, with a passion the aggressive policies of the US in the world but we have to be able to find a middle ground rather than going to extremes.

It appears increasingly unlikely that the Biden administration and the Iranian government will agree on terms for reviving the Iranian nuclear accord from which the Trump administration withdrew the U.S. for being “a bad deal.” Many of those in America, Israel and the Arab Gulf states who are worried about Iran’s behavior may rejoice at this prospect, but they should not. The hard, cold truth of the matter is that Iran is more likely to acquire nuclear weapons if the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) is not resumed than if it is.
Iran was in compliance with the limits imposed by the JCPOA at the time that former President Trump withdrew the U.S. from the agreement in 2018, when Iran’s “breakout time” of how long it likely would take for it to acquire nuclear weapons was estimated to be 12 months. Since then, Tehran has reduced its level of compliance with the terms of the agreement and its breakout time for acquiring nuclear weapons is assessed to be less than 10 days — or possibly even zero.

Faramarz jan,
I believe your question was on JW telescope. First, I read that there are plenty of micrometeoroids-high speed debris no bigger than a dust grain, moving so fast they can pack a true destructive, but correctable, damage.

What makes the recent micrometeoroid hit especially troubling is that while NASA scientists simulated such collisions on the ground, the impact that occurred is bigger than the ones they modeled. They claim that the position of the mirror segments can be moved in increments measured in nanometers—or billionths of a meter—allowing a damaged segment to be precisely refocused to cancel out the effect of the ding. Ground crews have already adjusted the damaged segment accordingly, keeping the telescope working.

The pictures we have, thus far, received is with the above adjustments. We might not be that lucky in the future due to the incomings. The good news, once again,  is that the scientists claim that most of the time they are able to predict and calculate the incomings trajectories  and simply move the telescope out of the way

Agha Rahim jan, you might as well be right. Israel is present in Iran and with full force. It might be to our surprise too, that Iran also has forces working in Israel. Think of a lot of our hamvatans from Kalimi, under Baha claim, to other religious denomination and sexual tendencies migrated to Israel for a while. I stop there.

Like you, I also, through reading gather my information. Being a sympathizer of Iran does not mean we work for any one. Iran that we know of has gone through many,  many dynasties. Who knows how long theocracy will last. But for as long as it is there, I wish for a strong Iran that can become strong enough, militarily, economically, and culturally,  to withstand and protect it’s integrity as a nation, and sovereignty of the motherland that has 12k residency in that region, and 7k written civilizational history. This task is not a light one! We are the inheritors of a marvel in human history.

Look at Iran before and now,  our people rule on every centimeter of the land, and sea, more or less, thus far. It has a lot of shortcomings, definitely. But we have to be fair, under the security circumstances of the last few decades, since the revolution, the external enemies, along with some of our own  incompetent elements have attacked us relentlessly,  not allowing an economic take off. However, by not relying only on the Western front, there is a chance of bilateral economic growth with the East and we are not under any illusion. We have been a prey, throughout our recent history, to both East and more so by the West, I would say. First they took our resources, then killing our democracy in its infancy, to  toppling kings, here and there and installing puppets if things don’t go their way.

Who knows maybe through establishment of a strong military we might be able to fend off their evil acts and a chance for economic growth. Working with the East does not mean ignoring the West. Relationship ought to be established with the West also, only and only when it is on equal footing. Not telling me how to behave culturally, economically and politically. For example don’t tell me how much the price of oil ought to be to off set your economic failures at home. Don’t force your corrupt and failed economy and culture on us. That’s all.  If there’s another way please share it with everyone. It seems like disapproving the ways and fails of the current regime has become an ideology nowadays.  I am not here to fight through argument. I am here to hear your voice and learn from you too. You know things that I don’t, and visa versa. Peace!

Keefer Jan, of course US has their own interest in the region.  But that does not mean we should just give the country Carte blanche to Russia.  Dig in and you will find out ... Russia is using Iran like a toy.  Russia is in bed with Israel. Israel never condemned Putin for the invasion of Ukraine.  Iran’s nationsl security system is built together with Russia.  See this report below.  Mossad in Iran, now for the 3rd time arrest a top Sepah general. Yes arrest , interrogate him and then release him.  That easy?  It is almost like Mossad has a division in Iran.  I am not even surprised if the have a building there.
