Comments: Growing Iran Protests Put New Pressure on an Embattled Regime Unrest is triggered by a drop in Iran’s currency, as frustration with a persistent economic crisis rises
Comments: I don’t have confirmation from friends and family back home but seen videos of widespread demonstrations in Tehran. Few from the bazar and others in the streets. Anyone has real information? Unfortunately, social media is not reliable at all…
Comments: Update for those who care!!! Water heater is fixed, maybe! The new water heater was installed and the technician waited about 10 minutes and said all is good! Water is hot but there is a small leak from the copper pipe above the heater!!! Coming back tomorrow AGAIN…🤯

Comments: Rumor has it, Khamenaie is in hospital and not doing well. Some even say he may have expired but the people around him is keeping it quiet for now
Comments: The Iran game plan is simple. Make life miserable until people accept anyone, even an incompetent foreign agent. Then the Pahlavi cycle will restart with RPG. In the process the nation is robbed of an opportunity to finding its own leaders and determining its own destiny. That time might be near. In the recent Yaboo meeting, I do not think he proposed to Trump another war. He saw that this would be painful for him and possibly end of his reign in Israel. I think he proposed a plan for regime change. RPG better suite up.
Comments: Thanks guys. I have cable, WiFi and landlines with Verizon fiber (Fios). I’m paying $250+/month for all. I don’t need the landline nor the cable. I’m going to call Verizon to figure out what is the price for internet/wifi only. I’ll also do some comparisons with AT&T and T-Mobile.

Comments: By the way, I canceled my cable TV years ago. Got tired of paying for ridiculous and bias content like bullshit cnn. I have streaming and a homemade hd antenna for local channels. works great.
Comments: lol is right. Starlink is not a replacement for wifi unless you are planning to get starlink for each device in your home which will be very expensive. I am assuming by wifi you mean connecting everything in your home to the internet. For that there are several solutions. 1. If you do not have a spread out house and it goes mostly up than wide, traditional wifi works. This works for homes that spread about 30 meters from your wifi router horizontally. There are some cheap options here, as low as $70. You do not need to get the 6G or multiband stuff. It is an over kill for most homes. 2. If you house spreads wide horizontally rather than vertically beyond 30 meters or so in each direction, a mesh network works well. These usually run a bit more expensive but give you wider coverage. 3. Ethernet over power. This is where you use the power system in your house as e ethernet wiring. For is you need special adapters. They run about $70 for each set of 2. You will need one for your router and one for each computer. Advantages are that you do not have a range issue and there is no radiation. packages ard also not lost as much as they are in wifi. disadvantage is that it comes t lower speeds since the power wiring is not designed for ethernet. I use a combination of 1 and 3 (mostly to reduce radiation and stable connectivity). Speed over wifi depends on distance. I get about 600gbps close to the router and about 200gbps at the farthest distance of the house. Over power lines I get about 70gbps. We watch multiple streamed movies at the same time over these onnections and have no issues. I have the basic spectrum plan for internet $60/month.
Comments: I just checked Starlink for my area. It costs $625 for the equipment and professional setup, this includes a $100 demand surcharge! Monthly charges are $120 a month for the highest speed, or $80 for basic. Not sure what you mean by Wi-Fi only, this is basic internet like all ISPs except that you get it from a satellite and you have a mount a dish on your roof. I am paying around $125 for internet and landline phone and it's very reliable. So it's not a good deal for me, at least not for now ![]()
Comments: Question for everyone in US. I’m going to cancel my cable. I only need WiFi for the home. I have few streaming services that should do the job. Any suggestions for the WiFi? Should I go with starlink?
Comments: I have learned to accept that everything in Boston is more expensive! They said it is a two mans job due to size of the tank. They also have to get permit for the gas heater which is pretty stupid since we are replacing the like for like!
Comments: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0xxbfnXjl7s
Comments: That is high for labor. But may be this is the going rate for Boston. Here, the usual rate for labor is around $70/hour. for specialized labor which this could be, it can go up to $100/hour. $1,800 for labor means 18 hours of work. This probably will take a couple of hours + they usually charge $200 for hauling away the old heater.
Comments: It’s a 75 gallon gas heater. The heater itself is about $1,200. The rest is labor.
Comments: That sounds so painful. I know exactly how you feel. I am sorry my friend! But $3K and $6K are insane prices. How big is the water heater? I assume it is gas? This should not cost so much to replace! Or may be San Diego has cheaper labor!
Comments: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian says that the United States, Israel and Europe are waging a “full-fledged war” against his country. “In my opinion, we are in a full-fledged war with America, Israel and Europe. They do not want our country to stand on its feet,” Pezeshkian told the official site of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in an interview on Saturday. The president’s remarks come ahead of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s meeting on Monday with US President Donald Trump. They also come six months after Israel and the US launched strikes on Iran, and after France, Germany and the United Kingdom reimposed United Nations sanctions on Iran in September over its nuclear programme. “Our dear military forces are doing their jobs with strength, and now, in terms of equipment and manpower, despite all the problems we have, they are stronger than when they [Israel and the US] attacked,” Pezeshkian said. “So, if they want to attack, they will naturally face a more decisive response.” “This war is worse than Iraq’s war against us. If one understands it well, this war is far more complex and difficult than that war,” Pezeshkian said, referring to the 1980-1988 conflict between the neighbouring countries in which thousands were killed. The US and its allies accuse Iran of seeking to acquire nuclear weapons, a claim Tehran has repeatedly denied. Israel and Iran engaged in a 12-day war in June, triggered by an unprecedented Israeli attack on Iranian military and nuclear sites, as well as civilian areas. The strikes caused more than 1,000 casualties, according to Iranian authorities. The US later joined the Israeli operation, bombing three Iranian nuclear sites. Washington’s involvement brought a halt to negotiations with Tehran, which began in April, over its nuclear programme. Since returning to the White House in January, US President Donald Trump has revived his so-called “maximum pressure” policy against Iran, initiated during his first term. That has included additional sanctions designed to economically cripple the country and dry up its oil revenues from sales on the global market. According to recent reports, when Netanyahu visits Trump at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida this weekend, he will be pushing for more military actions against Iran, this time focusing on Tehran’s missile programme.
Comments: The situation in Iran is getting fully out of control! Basic stuff has doubled since last March when I was there and is predicted to double again in the next 3-6 months. Average middle class individuals are becoming increasingly desperate and poor. People with decent jobs are cutting back. No more trips to Turkey or anywhere they could travel to. Dinner out is becoming a luxury. In the meantime, the top 1% are having a blast! |
