Comments: I wonder if there are other countries that may not take the full 26. Coming from a usual squad of 22 or 23, 26 is a big change when only 11 can be fielded! Considering the age of this squad though, I would have taken a runner as that last man to come in and disrupt things for a while. But then again there are 5 subs and so the older players can do that as well and be subbed out once they burn out.
Comments: I always thought Mashti and MashghAsem were the same people! And, I though MashghAsem was our resident news reporter since that seems to be the only thing he does.
Comments: Shahryar, Today was the deadline to submit the list of 26. I don’t think they can add anyone unless there is a serious injury or illness in the next few days. That was the case with the 26 players list. We definitely could use another player but who am I to question the coach.
Comments: On the 25 v 26, I can totally see that in Iran. If the 26th is not a clear choice and is subpar but is being pushed by the federation and government, CQ is shrewd enough to realize that if he takes such a person, then there will be a lot of pressure on him to play that #26 and this would introduce a lot of politics and tafragheh in the team. So, better to not take that extra player than buy into the real risk of political influence in the team.

Comments: Zinsky, thanks for the roster and the link to the average teams' ages. As for why 25 and not 26, I am not sure if there are any provisions by FIFA to allow a late name to be added, for injury reasons, for example. Otherwise, I am confused also. Although knowing CQ, he doesn't do anything unless there is a legitimate reason behind it. As for the age average, IRAN in the 5th oldest team. Usually that could be an issue, but with 26 roster teams, instead of previous 23, that should help older teams. There is a big difference between Argentina and USA, the oldest vs the youngest teams. If you multiply the age difference by 26, that says that Argentina has 83 years of more experience in their overall team than USA's. That should account for something!
Comments: Thanks LOL aziz; I recorded your predictions.
